I'm the Guy Who Does His Job. You Must Be the Other Guy

Ok, thanks little bro!

Thank you! And thank you for the fancy bolded font. It looks very neat and tidy/organized.

All aboard the JP train to swole town!

Ok, I’m so relieved today was a rest day. I am beat!

40 minutes of yoga and some ab wheel roll outs this evening.

I survived my first day answering 911 calls. slow clap

I did fine, I just wasn’t perfect, and that was bothersome.
Irrationally bothersome, but it’s the way it is. (The way I are)

Good group of people to talk to between calls anyway.

I’m honestly looking forward to my night shift on Saturday because I won’t have to get up at 3. :')

I ordered an EZ bar from Amazon when I first woke up and immediately forgot about it until just now, lol.

You can never be perfect (on a 000 call or a job) what matters is you answer the call.

The grim reality of the job is you can do your absolute best and it can still end badly, and you’ll ALWAYS feel like you could have done better, even when you nail it.

I guarantee you that the person who dialed you was grateful for you, whether they realised it or not.

Keep at it Spock

Thank you. : - )

I feel like I have to spend most of my day being rude and interrupting people, lol.

Police, fire or ambulance??

ā€œBlah blah -ā€ "POLICE, fire or ambulance???

ā€œBlah, blah, blah-ā€ ā€œPOLICE, FIRE OR AMBULANCE?!?!ā€

It’s this weird feeling inside that I’m not being polite, but I’m not supposed to be. Like after years of ass kissing in call centres I have to be all take charge and shit, I’m scared that I like it, LOL.

Like it’s going to unleash some assertive part of me inside that I’ve kept locked up for 37 years, hahah.

That part can come in handy!

When I was having a heart attack, first my wife didn’t believe me. Then she realized it was real, and Completely Freaked Out!

So it was important that somebody was able to take charge of the communication and get the essential info so that help could be sent/arrive.

It’s a real skill to cut through the panic/rambling/nonsense/confusion to get to the core of what’s needed.

Everyone thinks they will rise to the occasion when confronted with an emergency but the truth is that you default to your lowest common denominator, which for most people is panic.

You might feel like you’re being harsh or dismissive but that assertiveness is what’s needed in the moment. Empathy and compassion comes after

breaking news

I’ve decided I’m not going to change my workout routine because my head feels like it’s going to explode if I try to think about it.

I don’t know if everyone (the 10 people who read my log, LOL) agree that what I do might be dumb-ish, but these have been some of the most rewarding workouts I’ve ever had in my life and I’m just not ready to let it go right now.

G. bless you all

If I may…

Having watched and interacted with you for about a dozen years I gotta say- you’re killin it, and have an excellent intuitive sense of what you need to do within the continuum of what you’ve done, what you’re doing, and whats next.

Today - some sets were rest pause when they were numbers I should have been able to hit continuously, but it be like that sometimes. sad shrug

Lifting after a 12 hour shift with little food VS the morning of a day off affected my strength quite a bit. Not my brain, I wanted to give it everything I had, but I couldn’t get the numbers I wanted.

Hammer strength shoulder press machine
65lbs per side x 6 per arm
65lbs x 6 per arm
Drop set
45lbs x 14 per arm

Face pulls
35lbs x 13
35lbs x 13
Drop set
25lbs x 21 - some rest pause action here to note

DB Lateral raises
12.5lbs x 17 - rest pause
12.5lbs x 14 - rest pause
Drop set
7.5lbs x 15 - and fuck me, rest pause again

Rear delt db fly
7.5lbs x 25

Leg ext.
Intentional rest pause
70lbs x 20

Ez bar upright row
35lbs x 13
35lbs x 13 - rest pause

Cable rear delt fly
X 25 + lower pin setting drop set/rest pause x 25

Ez bar tri ext
32.5lbs x 15 - this was bugging my wrist, so I switched to the rope
17.5lbs x 15
17.5lbs x 15

Leg squisher
175lbs x 8

Chaotic day today. What even happened, I don’t know.
Stabbing, robbery, someone swearing at me, unanswered line with screams in the background.
The day flew by. Expect I had to have my fucking lunch at 930 am. You know how long that makes the afternoon?! And my mentor lady barely even stops to go pee!

To be fair, I probably hydrate more than most people.

Good day.

I’ll be sad when I have to split up from my buddy.
Me and this guy were the first two that arrived on day one. We walked together from the HR office to police HQ, we were beside each other in class, and our consoles are side by side during mentoring.

But, I’m B squad and he’s A. Two more shifts and the journey will end. He’s very chill and I feel my wigged out-ness mixed with his calm-ness has been a really great dynamic.

I guess I’ll make new friends :').

Well, here’s hoping i can sleep for 16 hours, so that i can stay up until 3am smile

Hello,

Today I did glutes

Back squats- toes pointed outwards and a pause in the hole
100lbs x 16
110lbs x 11
110lbs x 9

Elevated hip thrusts
185lbs x 8
160lbs x 10 + 4 (extended set) + BW glute bridge immediately after

Bulgarian split squats
2x20lbs
X 11 per leg
X 11 per leg

Pin good mornings
70lbs x 8
70lbs x 8

Good.
Little bit of dragging it. Definitely felt under fed and not super energetic.

My plan to sleep for 16 hours didn’t work. I woke up at midnight and took an extra super sleep pill thinking maybe I could sleep in until 8, but i still woke up at 6 : - /.

Oh well, better than if I had woken up at 4.

Here’s a random thought :
I hate it when people tell me I’m being anxious when I’m not.

I had a caller swearing at me yesterday and i used my customer service voice and acted very unphased by it. Which I was, 5 - htp has reduced my physical anxiety symptoms to almost nothing most of the time. I just kept saying ā€œyep, please hold the line while I patch you throughā€. Like, i literally did not care about his non stop f bombs.

My trainer starts freaking at me saying ā€œOK, you need to tell him we’re really busy and we’ll get him connected when we can! You’re making him angryā€

I thought, uhh, I’m pretty sure waiting is what’s making him angry, but ok.
She said about how i was getting anxious and my voice was going up, and that i need to be assertive. I thought that would just escalate it.
But it was annoying because I wasn’t anxious at all. I was always trained to be sweet to escalted people and just because my voice isn’t being assertive, it doesn’t mean I’m anxious.

STOP BEING ANXIOUS JENN

I’M NOT THIS IS JUST MY FUCKING PERSONALITY!!!

Anyway, tonight should be interesting.

Bye bye

Ok RE : post ’ night ’ shift pre back workout worryings -

I felt like crying at midnight and felt cold and shakey by the time I got home.

Nobody else was phased by any of it!!! Why wasn’t everyone else dying?!

And this wasnt even the full thing. How TF will I make it to 5am?!?

Maybe it wont feel as bad since i slept until 1030 this morning when yesterday i was up at 6, but I dunno.

Anyway, I keep telling myself in a month I will have semi adjusted to it all, but how do i do the first one while still being able to form coherent sentences?!?

cry

audible wail

I have no experience with this particular situation, but I’ve seen some things in my time, so I’ll just say this:

I am fairly certain this is not actually true.

And they were likely thinking the same thing about you when then got home, too.

But even if I’m wrong, you’re doing a good thing that’s absolutely worth doing, so hang in there. You just might surprise yourself…

Thank you .

I’m fairly certain that it was extremely obvious I was totally fucked up though :sweat_smile:

Leg spreader - paused/slow neg

105lbs x 16

Straight arm pull down
42.5lbs x 16
42.4lbs x 14

40lbs x 8 per arm
Drop set
25lbs x 14

Over hand bent over row
95lbs x 14
95lbs x 14

Low row machine- different than my regular one. I usually do the one arm at a time machine.
70lbs x 16
85lbs x 10
Drop set
55lbs x 18

Ez bar cable curl
30lbs x 12
30lbs x 12

Hammer curl
20lbs x 9 per arm
20lbs x 9 per arm

Great drive today. Especially considering how long it had been since I ate a full meal.

I combined my breakfast/lunch supper today since it was 3 by the time my workout was done and was out of the shower. AKA I had a wonderful salmon veggie omlet with Ezekiel bread. I felt like I could have eaten an entire turkey dinner to myself. My break last night was at 830.
.
Let me say that with more spirit. My break last night was at fucking 830.
By 130am i was starving.

I had a protein shake when i got home, but MAN, it felt so good to wolf down my breakluncsupp just now.

I’ll have some bone broth before i leave around 4, too. Lawd have mercy.

By 4 am I will be reunited with my bed and hopefully I’ll sleep until noon and wake to a wonderful day off and a shoulder workout.

In other news -
My youtube channel is going cray cray! I have 425 subscribers now and everytime i check it keeps going up and I get a ton of comments. And some of them aren’t even thirst comments, hahaha. It’s awesome.

I have no idea why! My dudes, I’ve been on youtube for 13 years and nobody cared and I’m still doing the exact same shit, lol.

Wheeee!! Jenn is on the map!!!

Bye ye

Ok, last night went WAaYyy better.

Talked to my buddy most of the shift and didn’t hit a wall until around 2 am.

Woke up at noon, exactly as I had hoped.

Face pulls
35lbs x 14
35lbs x 14
25lbs x 22 - rest pause

Cable rear delt fly while i waited forever for the shoulder press
5lbs x 20 per arm
5lbs x 20 per arm
5lbs x 20 per arm

  • lowered pin height for each set

Hammer strength shoulder press machine
65lbs per side x 7 per arm (6+1 on left arm)
65lbs x 6 per arm (5+1 on right, 4+2 on left)
50lbs x 12 per arm

Db Lateral raises
15lbs x 10
15lbs x 10
7.5lbs x 16 - rest pause

Ez bar cable upright row
This was a happy alternative. The barbell I wanted was in use and it turns out this feels better
30lbs x 7 - good, but not up as high as I usually like to bring it. Just needed to tinker with the weights
20lbs x 11 - better
20lbs x 11 - great

Rope tri ext
20lbs x 15
20lbs x 15

Db rear delt fly
20lbs x 20 partials
Drop
7.5lbs x 15

Great.
The shoulder press machine (AKA my seated torture device) is really kicking my ass. I made 60lbs my bitch, but 65 is proving to be hard.
Hopefully, I can get a full set of 7 next week with each arm without having to do it rest pause style.

I’m really looking forward to having a nice warm supper tonight and cozying up with the frasier reboot.

Squats tomorrow

G night all!

85lbs x 10 per leg
85lbs x 10 per leg

Elevated hip thrusts

160lbs x 10+5 (rest pause) + bw sumo squats directly after

Deficit sumo deadlifts
100lbs x 16
105lbs x 12
115lbs x 6

Good.
But I felt angry.
I wasn’t in the schedule system yet, so everyone just told me I’d be 5 am to 5 pm for two days and 5pm to 5am for two nights. Which was stressing me out because i only had two days off (normal rotation is 4 off 4 on), and one of the days was spent half sleeping. I emailed to confirm and she said she wasn’t seeing me on Wednesday. I felt really excited thinking i could actually rest a bit and get more errands done, but I do work at 5 tomorrow afterall : ’ - (.

I feel so fucking tired right now. I can’t believe i have to get up shortly after 3 tomorrow without even catching up from the last rotation.

  • i wanna cry.

4 days. 4 x 24
After 4 x 24 i will be free for 4 full days off
When it’s done I’ll buy myself a treat.

Ok, my brain has no idea wtf is going on anymore and I’ve had wicked insomnia trying to adjust to shift work. But yesterday was nuts, so here it is :

I woke up about 130 am.
.
That was my fucking wake up time for my shift at 5 am. Horrible feeling.

Hanging around at work, trying to socialize with my new squad and not much going on.

I get a call for a drive by shooting.
The whole com centre goes nuts.
All the 911s start to get calls for the shooting and we’re sending it to eval, so basically the entire place is all handling one thing. It’s loud as fuck and everyone is on high alert.

It’s all over the news that a guy and his kid were killed (gang related), and the premier shares it on her IG and whatnot.

I couldn’t believe I took the first call about this. Like I was the first person not on the scene to know this happened.

11 hours with no sleep, pfft. Torture at any other job. This was my first experience where anything like that happened and it’s an indescribable feeling being a part of it.

Back day after
Straight arm pull down
42.5lbs x 17
35lbs x 20
Drop set
30lbs x 15

Leg spreader
100lbs x 22
115lbs x 12

One arm lat pull down
42.5lbs x 8 per arm
35lbs x 13 per arm

Bent over row
95lbs x 15
95lbs x 15
105lbs x 8
*upset that some of these were crooked. Like jeeeezzzus, could i give myself a break?!

Low row machine
85lbs x 11
70lbs x 17

Barbell curl
35lbs x 16 - narrow
35lbs x 15

Andddd collapse.
It made me feel nauseous just to brush my teeth, idk why. Fatigue makes my toothpaste seem disgusting.

I’ve switched to casual now which will be better for me. When I’m eval trained I will be able to get tons of shifts, but I’ll be picking them myself, so I won’t have to worry about long bouts of insomnia quite as much.

I honestly just love being there.
Anyway, shoulders today and back atter tonight until 2. There’s a big concert downtown + it’s Friday night, so it might be nuts again.
