So I decided instead of trying to hop onto any program right now without much thought, I’m going to go back to my bastardized version of 5/3/1 for the next 4 weeks until my meet. Also, during the next 4 weeks, I’ll be deciding if I want to keep my focus on pure strength gains like I have been, or move more towards building some quality size so I actually look like someone who can deadlift 600 lbs. I think some added size and moving up to the 220 class could do good things for my total also. I wouldn’t be as competitive in the 220s obviously, but over time, maybe. I’m done being average.

Is it me or do you do a weird pelvis shift thing on ur squats before/after each rep? noticed it on the lighter sets, not that you squat bad, just thought id say something, looks like unnecessary movement/potential to be bad? Sick lift regardless, everything looked real easy cept for the bench.

With you moving to flat-footed bench, have you found better leg drive? and does that kind of compensate for the increased ROM?

Yea I watched your Mock meet and some PRs on your youtube channel Ashy, was quite impressed to not realize what a beast you were. Sometimes get too used to lifting in a college gym and not realizing how many other guys are pushing heavy ass weights.

yep thats the lil move, not gonna doubt its effectiveness considering mike is a fucking god just about, but yeah as ^ is it for performance or just a lil sway to get in the groove? At first i just thought u were breaking at the hips to initiate the squat, which would make sense to do, is that essentially what its for?

Honestly I’m just toying around with it now to see if it will help with my setup. I feel like Mike T and I have a little similar builds (minus the fact he has 70 lbs BW and a bajillion pounts on my total) so I thought it might help. I like it, just feels good.

But on a serious note, I completely winged today’s session and may just be doing that every time I’m in after I get the 5/3/1 stuff done. I basically use the 5/3/1 loading scheme and then hit the assistance work based on what I feel like doing.

No I am no where near as strong on flat footed bench as I am on my toes. I’m able to get more of an arch and more tightness on my toes than I am flat footed. Or maybe it’s just the increase in ROM that has killed my numbers. Oh well lol

Well I’m not on your level yet but I do appreciate it haha. We actually have a few guys that can put up decent weight in our gym, but we are all far outnumbered by the squat rack curlers!

Yeah that’s essentially what it is. I guess it just helps me remember to sit back some and try to use more of my hams and glutes. Meh, I don’t know, my squat sucks lol.
