I'm Only 190, Should I Cut?

Glad i got your attention.
I’m 190 after coming up from about 173. my goal was 200 and then i would cut(i figured it would come at the summer time). well, my eating is what i want it to be. I’m eating strictly clean, but i’m not eating enough and frankly i’m having a hard time eating anymore.

Currently, i have a shoulder injury from who knows what. I’m not sure how long it will take to heal, and in the meantime i am afraid of lifting. I know i’m not big or anything, my eventual target goal is 190 and cut. But since i can’t lift, and i’m tired of eating, would now be a good time to start dieting and doing cardio and doing routines that lose weight?

I’m only 19 so my metabolism is still high. Would it be a good idea to start a cut cycle? would my next bulk cycle be more productive then?

basically, should i cut or not?

no

Prof X once told me in a PM that every bulk (even un-clean ones) brings your “set point weight” higher. Unless you are looking intolerably nasty (>20% BF), I would continue the bulk even if it means eating some things you wouldn’t normally eat. Touch 200 just to prove you can. If it’s a lean-ish 200, all the better.

From personal experience, I chunked up all the way to 225 (5-7!) on pretty bad food. But now, my weight seems to have set at 210 (up from 185-190) as my body comp improves. It could be a long time, but this could lead to my being a lean 210. Which would be cool.

Or I’m entirely wrong. I tried.

Why would u cut? Are getting ready for competion or summer? If your adding quality muscle you don’t need to cut. What’s your bodfat % right now?

no

Sorry, I say cut. If you are frnakly tired of eating more and your diet is gonna goto shit. Might as well try a change of pace, but I wouldn’t take it too far. Try a mild cut and lose 3-5 lbs and then get back on. Do it for long enough for you to cut back and get a change of pace and then move back to what you did before.

Or… You can just cahnge up your diet for a few weeks and then move back on.

i’m cutting because i have a shoulder injury. and if that puts me out for 2 weeks of good lifting, then wouldn’t it make at least some sense to start cardio and cutting?

Don’t diet while not lifting! You’ll lose too much muscle mass.

Also, fixing your shoulder would be my focus. If you don’t, you’ll never lift to your potential and your work will be for not.

Rolo.

So, aside from not lifting, you are going on a calorie restricted diet and doing cardio? Sounds like prime time for muscle wasting.
Might be a good time to check out the reason for the shoulder injury, implement a prehab program, and do what you gotta do to stay in the game.
You haven’t been eating soy, have you?(jk)

I don’t get it. The majority here recognize that trying to “cut” when not lifting is a bad idea, yet you do it anyway? Why ask what anyone else thinks? You wasted precious internet space to ask this question just so you could NOT listen to the advice given. Let’s see, what keeps muscle when dieting? Yes, that would be your nutrition AND weight training. You somehow expect to cut back and eat less while not training. Why would your muscle stick around in those conditions? That’s right, it wouldn’t. Thanks for asking.

Man, I’m 6’0, 195lbs more or less, and I wouldn’t even think about cutting right now. Quit being one of those manorexic bitches we keep seeing and put on some god damn mass.

How tall are you? I’m 6’0" and as a rule I won’t even think about cutting unless I’m at an already pretty lean 215. That’s coming from someone who weighed 155 lbs. 4 years ago. Anything less and I just couldn’t live with myself. As usual, ProfX is right on ponit.

Dude, please don’t use the word ‘cycle’ when you are only 19. If you are talking about drugs, stop. Your boys are in full throttle at this age, let nature take its course. Oh, get some Grow! That would be a great move.

Yes. I reccomend cutting at all the big weights…135, 140, 150, 160, and 175. Of course, no one would go any higher than that, so I’ll stop there.
