I'm Getting Worried: The Erosion of Our Rights

WTF is full time? Do you mean active duty? As much as I post here? That would be a no.

Okay. I thought I’d finally figured out why you post the way you do. I guess you still may be a troll, though.

But you took an oath to a “living document,” right?

I think everyone here is a troll.

Given that the Constitution is a living document, that would be obvious.

I don’t think they had a giant ceremony or anything. But laws are changed without violence often.

How can you take an oath to something whose meaning changes? Living document doesnt mean, “can be amended.”

Of course. That’s not the same as giving up the power.(Explanation: Whenever the powers-that-be decide to end the lockdowns, that won’t be like them giving up the power to force people into lockdowns)

No I’m sure they could go back to not selling beer on Sunday’s if the people supported that.

You raise your hand and repeat the oath. It’s not brain surgery.

I can’t handle all this freedom

Mistakes happen. Especially in times like these with no consistent protocols.

I think it says a lot about our freedoms that nearly everyone pushed back on this incident instead of accepting it.

@idaho I think right now is the time for people to really pay attention to what is happening at all levels of government.

I don’t particularly like much about my Governor’s policies and I didn’t vote for her, but she seems to be handling the pandemic response fairly reasonably. Specific mention was made that Maine is NOT to become a police state, although I didn’t get the impression that it is categorically ruled out as an option either. Still, her response was about all I could expect from any government official.

She’s super liberal, and I think we only went a few hours before gun stores were agreed to be “essential”, and that was that. No real fuss about it from anyone, including the normally vocal anti-gun individuals I know personally. All of a sudden nobody’s beating the gun control drum on Maine social media, at least that I can see.

I know a few local guys who are Federal LEO’s and more than a few local LEO’s, and I’d like to think that these guys aren’t going to roll over easily on the Bill of Rights. Hopefully we don’t need to find out. Hopefully this passes soon, and a lot of spirited discussions shall be had.

Why do you think guns have been a relative non-issue?

I think it’s because anti gun folks think there are bigger fish to fry right now, and arguing for guns stores to close will have minimal benefit and be a waste of time and resources. It could also lead to push back on ALL quarantine policies from gun rights folks.

I live in Maine. It has been the least violent state in the country for quite a few years running. We have a successful ongoing experiment with permitless “constitutional carry”. Wild game abounds. Here you will find many people who share my general opinion on firearms.

I also think it is safe to say that opinions on this issue may have shifted recently. I think you have a lot of people seeing value in firearms for both personal protection and hunting applications who may not have seen this value a couple of months ago. That’s just a hunch though.

Maybe people are howling about it and I’m not hearing it. I can only see what I see. I’m sure this isn’t the end of the discussion, but it is probably best written off as “bigger fish to fry” politically-speaking.

Its definitely an abuse of power when someone can’t apply common sense to a situation to assess whether there is actually a credible threat to public safety.
I find this kind of thing really disturbing, totally unnecessary.

Would you rather lose your ability to breathe under your own power while a cougar tears off your balls and feeds them to Hilary? Because that what Covid-19 is, bro. And you’re 100% guaranteed to get it if kids use playground equipment. (/s)

Hunch somewhat confirmed from my cousin if you believe us

Two family members allegedly whispered that having guns and knowing how to use them would be a good idea, though you’d have never expected something like this from them before

Two family members of mine is not “a lot of people”, but we know they’re all thinking the same
wink

I think that it having happened in the first place speaks more loudly
