IMO that line of thinking (strict constitutionalist) allows for far too slow and rigid of a reaction for something like a pandemic. That view seems very black/white to me. It takes an awfully stoic person to let hundreds of thousands die in the present just to uphold a political philosophy. At least I know where you’re coming from now.
That’s probably true particularly if you believe our system was created to protect the people from themselves.
I believe our system was setup to allow people to be free and, good or bad, freedom requires individuals take responsibility for their actions.

This is exactly where I’m coming from now. I’m sure you remember how the US was when the Patriot Act was written. Worst terror attack in US history, fear of more attacks, sleeper cells everywhere and we got one of the most atrocious anti-liberty bills in US history.
Now we’re allowing Governor’s to lock people in their homes with threat of force. People are begging the President to issue a National stay at home order. Surprising Trump as not done so. I have my kids future to consider too.

He did in fact say he was looking at quarantining NY, NJ and part of CT. He later backtracked on that.
Also, the president lacks the power to issue a national stay at home order. Meaning, not even Hillary would have issued one.
He can’t do whatever he wants? Damnit I’m starting to wonder if him giving healthcare to all at a cheaper cost is in jeopardy. Surely he will still eliminate the debt in 8 years? At the very least Mexico is paying for the wall right?
I wouldn’t worry about that. It’s been Bernie’d around for a long time.
