I'm Getting Worried: The Erosion of Our Rights

No, i wasnt referring to you. You brought race up in your discussion with usmccds, but I was only glossing over it to be honest.

I hope she was counted as a COVID-19 death! Never let a crisis go to waste, baby!

He wouldn’t sit in the back?

Boeing didn’t.

I’m sure this will be fine, with absolutely zero negative effects on one’s privacy (sarcasm).

Rand Paul should have taken a big step down. He was scared about exposure so he got a test. But he still showed up to work, went to the gym, and the pool instead of waiting to see his results.

But I know I know it should have been everyone else’s job to stay away from Rand Paul. He shouldn’t have changed his behavior in any way because that would be an assault on America. An actual doctor was selfish enough and enough of a dumbass to put his colleagues who probably average over 60 (?) at risk.

What’s selfish about putting HIS colleagues at risk?

All the white passengers had masks. Maybe he didn’t have equal access to a mask because of his skin color.

Nothing. He acted as he should have. He didn’t owe it to anyone to act differently. No one does. People who think they are infected shouldn’t behave any differently.

It’s not like the people in Congress or those who may have been in the gym or pool have loved ones they may infect.

Stand up dude, stand up actions. Good for Rand.

To even ask that question is racist.

Just keep your phone with you at all times and don’t worry. It’s for your own good. Tracking everyone will be done with the best intentions.

I don’t think Nick has children or parents. It’s easy to have a feminine outlook on life when you don’t know what it’s like to be a man. The concept of sacrifice is masculine. Who does the world’s most dangerous jobs? Which sex has been the more expendable?

I agree.

That’s sexist.

Certain attributes are masculine and some are feminine. This is not just cultural but biological as we see it in nature. There is nothing stopping a woman from expressing masculine traits and obviously, in today’s world, there is nothing stopping men from expressing feminine traits. It doesn’t change the fact that duty and sacrifice are masculine concepts. The ancient Romans had Horatio and Aeneas. We have Trump and Glenn Beck.

No. That’s sexist.

No idea. I do know when you have loved ones your perspective on a lot of things changes in a hurry. I’ve worked with poor people for most of my career. And it has effected significantly my views on a lot of things. The birth of my kid changed a lot as well.

When you don’t see certain things it’s human nature to not understand them or care as much. This could be applied to a lot of things.

A friend at work and i had a similar conversation. However, it was more centered around the USA we are going to leave our kids. Of course our kids health is very important, but what do we want more for them? If by the time my children have reached adulthood they live in some type of technocratic bondage, we will have failed. Cattle have great healthcare and quiet peaceful lives, until they get slaughtered. So yes we want to protect our kids, but we need to protect their rights as well.

That’s not a response to any specific comment.

I would agree. However I also think trade offs exist. How long will we continue to support a system that provides high quality health care for those you can pay for it and poor or no care for those who can’t? What type of bondage are our kids already in?

And how much less would that bondage be if our priorities weren’t consistently about enhancing wealth for the few? If we didn’t lick our chops at the ability to profit off the ignorant or downtrodden?

Do we pretend that the bondage isn’t real because some kids will be born lucky?

We’re not talking about the same thing. Opportunity and freedom based on a system that protects an individual’s rights vs redistribution to ensure a certain level of comfort.
People have moral responsibility, not governments. Caring for the sick, homeless, and poor is a voluntary responsibility that moral people have.
