Today was horrible, didnt warmup enough so my back was in knots and spasms that made it hard to breathe…oh well got through it and will warmup better next time. Im not a fan of rackpulls just dont feel comfortable in the setup, I may replace it with something else if it is allowed.

What height are your rack pulls done from?

It was at about mid chin…had to use one of the step platforms as the cage would of placed me right below the knee…

Mid-chin??? Oh, mid-SHIN. I knew you were strong, but really . . .

lol at you reading all the rules and everything. i’m that way, too. at least then you can put your mind at ease about all that kind of stuff. and you won’t be one of those people who everyone just wants to tell to read the fucking manual.

i really like the look of those pin presses! i wanna try some! this benching business is fun!

Matty, I was the same way dude. I read the rules quite a few times (didn’t wanna F up the commands) and went over/made sure I knew things about foot movement during bench (I.E. Going from toes down only to flat foot or vice versa) but once the meet started it was all about the lifts. TBH I wad nervous when I first showed up and thought to myself “what the hell have I gotten myself into?” but after talking with people and when the lifting started you just go straight into the zone and it’s on.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being prepared/a little over prepared but don’t stress over it. Things really come together and with the people you have helping you I’m sure you’re going to be golden come competition day. I’d say relax and have fun but I think it’s impossible NOT to have fun… At least I thought so.

Now that I’ve finished my own comp im really excited to see someone else do their first one cause I know you’ll have a bad ass time and I’m looking forward to you getting to experience it and, of course, getting to hear all about it.

You’re gonna rock it brother, no doubt about it!

Relax and focus on what your training partners are trying to drill into you. The meet itself will be a blast and it will go by pretty quickly.

Keep training hard and you’ll nail it Matty. Solid work as always!

james

Nice training, big guy!

Meet lead-up is exciting. Lol @ reading the rules - such an overachiever

Thems some BIG rack pulls! I always smoke my lowerback whenever I do them, which could be good or bad…

Just in case it hasn’t been beaten to death yet

Gregon, I just visited your post on the Powerlifting forum. The weights you lifted are simply other worldly to me. Why on earth were you nervous? I went into my first meet lifting barely half that much, but also had fun thanks to the friends and the excitement.

I’m always curious why folks who are as strong as a fucking forklift have such anxiety going into their first PL meet.

Cav - Lol yeah, spelling fail, would you believe I graduated college with full hononrs?

Alexus - Yeah I do not want to get caught with my pants down thats for sure, the pin presses would be great for you espescially when you dont have a good spotter and will really build tricep strength.

Greg - Thanks so much bro, I appreciate it. I have to remember this is supposed to be fun, and once I get this first one under my belt much of the apprehension will be gone…unfortunately for you get ready for shit tons of stupid questions about the meet, be warned lol!

Masch - Whatup! My back feels like crispy bacon right now, fragile and burnt! The rackpulls for some reason are such an odd movement.

James - Thanks man!

Kent - I know I know

Joe - Thanks man, I havent trained with my buddies in about a week, its getting harder and harder to get down there, Ill be there this week though
