and unilateral work was all I could do, its great shit.

Colin - Thanks man, I was saying the exact same thing to him after, they were busting my balls about not getting it up but I said to him I would of been better dumping the bar over my head. I did a ton of sets leading up to it, I thought for sure I had 2, but it wasnt in the cards.

Kev - Ill tell you what, that single leg stuff was a real humbling experience, I reall had a hard time with them damn Split Squats, hopefull when my balance improves I will get better at’em

Have Pete or Meat look at that box squat video, personally I think you should have had your feet a little wider and sit back a little more.

Out of curiosity why are you doing box squats? Are you going to compete raw or geared? My squat sucks so take it with a grain of salt but box squats never really helped me because they don’t mimic what my “normal” squat looks like. Or is that the actual point, to work different muscles?

yeah, on the box squat sit back further, you are really bent forward. pinch shoulders back, arch a little more, and keep chin up.

Matty, I see you were doing some KB swings up to 100lbs (!). Any thoughts on a good all-purpose weight? I’m thinking something in the 50-60 range.

DJ - A retarded ballerina is a perfect description on how I looked and felt, but you are spot on, in the long run it will be good for me and make my lower half stronger and more stable. Right on about the box squat, never really did them before, especially with the box being low, live and learn bro.

JAMES - LOL, yeah we were like the 3 stooges or 4! Now starting Westside, it calls for box squats however, I feel because I have an issue with depth and technique, I feel it enforces both when I eventually back squat. Not to mention possibly building more hip power and explosion from the hole? What do you think?

First I love these fuckers, there actually fun…but I believe the 97lbers would be perfect for you. If I could 5x10 I know you could…I started with the 54, but they were way too light, your lower body is way stronger than mine broham.

Staffy, thanks man I really appreciate it, 154x7 is pretty fucking good! If you wanna see some really ridiculous Millies, gotta check out Stricks, Bulldogs and of course Marauder Meats logs, Their Millies will blow your effing mind…if you wanna go up in millie weight try work sets that you can get three of for about 3 sets, and 1-2 back off sets for 10-12 reps. Every 4 weeks try to beat your current max, at least this is what I did. Basically just bastardized the fuck outta 5/3/1.

My thought for practicing technique is to squat more. I squat to warm up every training day now just to reinforce the technique. I suppose it depends on how close your box squat and free squat techniques are. Mine aren’t really close so it doesn’t help me much. I’m sure they build more hip power though. What about squats with a pause at the bottom? But I’ve only recently moved over to low bar from high bar and my high bar is considerably stronger so take my advice with a lick of salt.

James - Thats a real good idea, I may steal the squat warm up technique from you. With me I want my box squat to be my regular squat so to speak as Im trying to keep back more and get better depth…hopefully it will work.

good luck with the westside stuff, it’ll get you stronger, and will really help technique too
