IFL Drawing to a Close?

Things certainly aren’t looking good:

Too bad, too, as I rather enjoyed the IFL. They had some good up-and-coming talent and I thought the team concept - while not perfect - was a good change-of-pace.

It’s a shame, they really started putting on great cards right as it was a little too late for them to pull out of their financial hole. I thought the team/city concept was retarded, I think the man vs man aspect of the sport is one of it’s strong points, and the glorification of an individual and the personality he projects is what builds interest. Making them just another face on a team dilutes that aspect. They fixed it with going to the grand prix format and fight camps instead of teams, but it was too late.

You’re right on about how the team concept took away from the individual’s drawing power. Like you said, they took steps to fix it this year, but it was too late.

That is a shame.

I don’t really follow it but a lot of the conversations I have had around the sport with the casual fan have been in regards to IFL.

If nothing else it seems to me it got MMA in front of an audience who might not have watched it.

i liked ifl too, just happened to catch it
with a a guy named (jerremy the spider)
the first name mabe wrong but his nickname
isnt.he won several fights, and when he first night in the ifl, he had returned after 5 yrs out due to personal problem and won his first fight and serveral more. he killed himself. a real shame cuz he gave and contributed to the sport and would have
been a champion.

Ya any time a MMA organization goes under, it is not good for anyone, including us fans
