ITmynx…I’m butting in to say hi…I remember you from back in the day, although Im not sure if you remember me! ![]()
That vacay sounds fabulous! please adopt me
nlmain - hell yeah you can! In my family it’s the more the merrier! =D (plus there are so many of us, we can forget each other some times… you would blend right in! The other day my Dad introduced himself to my cousin’s boyfriend of 3 years who has been on 1 or 2 vacations with us! haahahahahahahahahah!) But my poor Dad has an excuse… he is a politician and meets about 100 or more new people every day! he is so funny! My cousin’s boyfriend was like, “what the hell!!! Why did your Dad just introduce himself to me?”
Myxie - Oh yes! Now I don’t really partake in many of the beverages… BUT it’s fun to watch other people!!! =D
Maschy - you can come too! nlmain can pick you up on the way down to North Carolina! See you in a couple of weeks! =D
So training has been going well… talked to MR about the bum and we decided that I will do an upper body specialization to focus on fixing any issues up there while maintaining my lower body alignment for now. I go back to the doc in about 3 weeks and I will be very interested in what he has to say and what the X-rays say.
Training is going pretty well… some things don’t hurt at all like my Anterior Loaded Step-Up. I have worked up to 145 for sets of 6 on each leg with good form! YAY!
I also can’t wait to get my new program from Mike! It should be this week! HOORAY!
Hope everyone is doing well! I will try to be a better, more regular poster this week! =D
Good job working around the bum issue. Its way harder to get pumped for a training when you know that you have limitations.
^ agreed! And its nice that Mike has helped you put something together while your bum-bum is bruised up.
Will the new program take that into consideration? Or are you just going to start the new program once you’re tailbone is all better?
Kimba - you are so right! It’s like, “I get to train today! WHOO HOO! I get to… wait… well I can’t do that… or THAT… maybe I can… wait, no nevermind… Hmm… well what about trying… nope, that hurt last week… well SH*T! I guess I can do umm, face pulls? yippee…”
But I am working on it!
Masch - he wrote me a program specifically for upper body that is supposed to MAINTAIN my current lower body alignment and continue to fix my upper body posture, strength and mobility. However, I was disappointed a bit that there are NO lower body exercises… cuz I can so SOME things pain-free… so I emailed him and asked him if I can do ANY lower body stuff or if I hafta wait until I am all healed… =-/
GOOD NEWS: My bum has hardly hurt at all the last couple of days… so I am excited! We will just have to see if this lasts!!! =D
I did my first upper body workout of the new program last night… it was exciting b/c I got to do close grip bench! I didn’t go heavy as I had a SLOW eccentric, and I was super focused on form… but it was FUN! =D
Awesome news! I hope your butt continues to cooperate. Injuries just really, really suck.

MMD! Of course I remember you! how are you? What are you up to?
Hey Molly…I have a few questions about IF (I am reading that both you and Masch are doing the Warrior Diet)! I am interested in trying it for the next few months, but am training for another meet at the end of August. I have done some preliminary research and plan to do more this weekend, but nothing is better than first hand advice and you seem like a great source of info.
So, I have a few questions:
I see that both of your energy levels are up (you and Masch), but are your lifts still progressing? I wouldn’t want to stagnate or hinder my lifts by training during fasting periods and not being able to give my all during several hours of lifting.
When do you do your workouts? When your schedule varies do you readjust your eating, depending on the day?
Do you abide by a higher fat/lower carb ratio when you don’t train and have a refeed?
When you eat at night do you start to feel tired? Clearly I would eat the day (morning) of the meet, but wouldn’t want to have trained my body to feel tired after eating.
When you have such a small amount of time to eat, are you still hungry enough after you first refeed meal to fit the rest of a theoretical days worth of food into a few hours? Are you calories still pretty high?
Sorry for the million questions! I have read what you have posted about it so far, but I want to smooth out some of the additional factors. Any input would be great.
OMG… I am the WOOOOOORST poster ever! Sorry I have been ridiculously MIA! Had lots of exciting stuff going on!
Spent weekend before last in Louisville at a 3-day seminar discussing how to run fitness bootcamps… it was VERY COOL! Got to spend a chunk of Saturday hanging out with Mike Robertson which was awesome! We got to shoot the shit and talking training and life and what not… it was so fun! I think I just like to hang around him so that hopefully I will absorb just one millionth of what he knows via osmosis! haha…
Some good news: My booty feels WAYYYY better! In fact, I would venture to say that I am 90% back to normal! However… I don’t want to do anything too crazy until I have my doctors appt next week! I would hate to mess it up before it was totally healed! =-/
But yeah… in two weeks I should be almost back to normal training! =D Sprints… here I come!!!

I am not doing a normal PL-ing routine right now as I am taking time to work on all of my weaknesses and imbalances… however, I am definitely progressing each workout! And don’t get me wrong… my workouts are still TOUGH… they are just not using super heavy weights right now. And yes, my energy levels are better than ever and I actually enjoy working out in a fasted state.

I usually workout starting between 4:30 and 6:30 at night. There are a couple of days a week where I know I can’t “feast” at night… in that case, I fast for the first 4 hours of the day… and then I eat several small meals the rest of the day. My meals are actually not changing THAT much based on whether I train or not. It’s always small amounts of berries, nuts and a little Greek Yogurt or a small protein shake during the day, and then somewhat equal amounts of protein, carbs and fat at night… maybe slightly fewer carbs on non training days… but not much.

I only feel tired if I over-stuff myself… or eat “un-clean” foods (processed, white flours/sugars, etc) Other than that, I am fine. If I just eat until I am comfortable, I don’t feel sleepy. I am sure if you just “grazed” the day of the meet, you would be fine. I don’t know what your weight/weigh-in day situation is (if you need to cut, if you are not worried about cutting, what day you weigh-in, etc) so I don’t know if you HAVE to load up on food or what… but I am fine as long as I don’t overdo it or eat crap.

Oh I have no problem eating more than a day’s worth of food! =-D In fact, I was prob eating way more than I should have when I first started doing the Warrior Diet… prob 3,000+ calories… YIKES! But I have cut that back a bit. The thing is, you don’t HAVE to eat a whole day’s worth of food because your body it utilizing the nutrients MUCH more effectively when you have been fasting or under-eating most of the day. BUT… if you wanted to… it would be no problem to get 2,000-3,000 calories in a day (assuming you are eating calorie-dense foods like oils, pasta, steak, etc). (Plus, remember, you are eating prob 400-600 calories throughout the day as well.
Let me know if you have any more questions!
i guess i missed how you hurt your bum…i’ve been MIA as well, Molly. of course it seems you are super crazy busy year round and still manage solid training.
glad you bum is feeling better! i’m gonna scroll back and see what happened. (my tailbone is still bruised from snow boarding back in feb or whenever that was…ouch!)
and this warrior diet thing sounds interesting…![]()
Molly - I really appreciate the feedback! I had my first day today but I won’t get into it. The two most important things I noticed though were 1. increased energy and focus and 2.realizing I may not be able to eat enough.
We will see how it goes day to day and after I start putting some time together.
I will keep checking in and seeing how your experience is going and letting you know mine with powerlifting…for whenever you get back to it…strength imbalance stuff is SO necessary! I may also have some more questions.
So happy to hear that you are healing up! Time and being smart will work pretty much every time.
Hey Molly! Glad you’re getting better!
And look at you schmoozing with the top dogs
Very cool.
crap Molly! just re-read the last few pages. sorry about your cracked tailbone! some people have asked if perhaps mine could be cracked or something after so many falls on my first and 2nd snow-boarding trips. it’s still sore months later…hmmm.
your trip looked fantastic! i loved the muscle beach pic of you lifting (and the wine drinking hit my soft spot of course)
did you order your In n Out animal style? i hope it was a double-double. they can’t be truly appreciated unless you order them that way.
take it easy on that bum of yours-hope you heel up super quick.
