Because everyone has the same definition of something as abstract as artistic merit… fucking lol at you thinking there is some common definition shared among all people

QFT. My English is horrible? I thought I died out the butt of your argument a response or 2 ago?
And because I’m overly kind, I’ll continue to humor you to tell you that your wrong again. Artistic merit is NOT an abstract concept, that is just the term you use for something that goes over your fucking head.
Point being eggowned, when I told you to leave this thread it was not in malice or spite; you are literally too stupid to understand this music so there is, once again, “literally” no point in you being in this thread - your NEVER going to get it.
oh noes I will never understand the complexities of aesop rock’s lyrics

I’m not sure you’re familiar with the definition of “condescend.” This whole thread is a self-serving diatribe of condescending quips on your part.
Yes, yes I can. In fact, it is easily comprehensible. It seems that my having listened to hip-hop that was recorded before the 2000’s has bestowed upon me slightly higher standards than yours, though. This guy had the delivery of Wesley Willis.
Yeah, I’m sure he would have verbally slaughtered GZA or Rakim in a freestyle. If only the all the hip-hop philistines would see the errors in their ways, right?
Also, Deorum, how old are you? Your incoherent, grammar-raping rambling implies “not very.” It’s ok, though - when I was in high school, I totally knew everything, too.

Oh did you, Is that why you assume that I’m a highschool kid who thinks he knows everything? Projection, once again look it up. Your not even worth expanding an argument because you haven’t even read and followed the directions of my previous posts. Neeext.

I just HAVE to point out how humorous it is that you assumed I haven’t studied Rakim or GZA’s lyrics 100 times closer. You really think a fucking hip-hop head like myself didn’t start back from the boom bap era? Come correct with that bullshit.

Wouldn’t calling these “quips” imply there was some sort of intelligent or witty comments being said?
But really, who gives a shit what music this douchebag likes?
Not me. Not now, not neva.

It is absolutely mind blowing how many people will propose an argument here without reading the rest of the thread. This thread isn’t about what music this douchebag likes; it is about what music is better based on artistic merit. The fact that this has CONSISTENTLY flew over the head of this thread is scary.

From your hub:
Deorum New Jersey, USA 18 yrs
training powerlifter. ~175lbs. senior in highschool.
So is b-boy posturing your safety net of sorts, for when you finally realize that you have no argument? It’s very intimidating…
OK, you think that anyone who likes different music than you just isn’t smart enough to get it. You also think that anyone who disagrees with your posts just can’t understand them. Well, the last part is true to an extent, as your posts betray the reading comprehension of an ESL twelve-year-old with downs (no offense to my ESL brothers and sisters). Debating semantics with such an ironically intellectual lightweight on a bodybuilding forum is getting played out, so I’ll leave you with my final thoughts on the topic:
Hip-hop = music = art = subjective. Bottom line. I almost feel sorry for you, because it seems that you’re incapable of just enjoying music without using it as a source with which to amass a creepy superiority complex. But whatever gets you through the night. Chag sameach.

OP is a pretentious douche, and that freestyle was mediocre and spasmodic. There’s more to good hip(ster)-hop than clever lyrics. If you have no sense of flow and your delivery sucks, then maybe the reason your fan base is so small isn’t just because your oh-so-cerebral lyrics are over everyone’s heads. Also, I’m not sure if you’re aware, but you know some of them black folk have dabbled in the hippity hop? Or would that not be obscure enough for you?
All that being said, there is no denying that mainstream hip-hop became vapid and commodified a loooong time ago, so I agree with your notion to an extent.
You sir don’t know what the fuck you are talking about. I agree that wake up show freestyle was kind of irritating, but Eydea has made a career of slaughtering some of raps heavyweights in freestyle competitions, most notabley Eminem. Eyedea was really talented.
The only reason the freestyle was irritating was because you had to look at this kids pale, ugly, white, nerdy face - plain and simple. Why do you people think I’m posting fucking live shows? It goes to prove a point.
Honestly I thought it was irritating 'cause it wasn’t very good and he stumbled quite a bit, the flow was off, delivery sucked, etc… But, I know what he’s capable of. He just didn’t have it here.
For the record, I think El-P’s production on The Cold Vein was REALLY great, and his stuff on the Company Flow albums were pretty good. It’s his solo stuff that I hate. He tries to go for stuff that’s too complicated and actually ends up forgetting that every good beat needs a hook. And I never liked his rapping.
It’s actually worth noting that airy, almost aimless sounding synths that you could hear all over The Cold Vein have become popular in mainstream rap too now. Not to say there are producers making those same kind of beats…but the airy synths that you can’t really nod your head to? They’re en vogue right now. Just listen to stuff like Drake on his songs with 40 [and the R&B that follows that sound], Wiz Khalifa on a lot of his songs, even that Nikki Minaj song, Your Love. More pop friendly, and they probably emulated 808s & Heartbreak rather than El-P, but it’s interesting to see similar sounds get popular.

I remember when Irish was younger, nicer, and more patient. But the 2010 Irish doesn’t give a fuck. He’ll tell a person to suck a dick and keep on walking.
Respect, Irish.
