Cheers bro, lots more to come on them hopefully!!
Competition in Ireland’s not the greatest. I think there were 4 100kg’ers between open, masters and juniors. I placed first outta them. I actually had the 3rd highest total out of the whole 2 days of competition, only realised that now after checking. The majority of lifters were unequipped tho. about 50 versus 20.
The 2 totals that beat me were 700 @ 110 equipped and 727.5 at 103kg raw by a guy just out of the junior ranks. He pulled 710lb.
In fairness it’s not really indicative of the top level here in Ireland. In my gym there’s a lifetime drug free 100kg’er who’s totalled 810 as a masters lifter and a 90kg single ply WPF lifter who’s done 870kg.
The numbers I’m chasing at the moment are the national junior squat and deadlift record (310 and 305 respectively) set by another one of our gym’s lifters 10 years ago.
While there might not be a great quantity of top level lifters spread across all the weight classes, there are some standouts. Ultimately my goal is to put up a total that woulda put me at the top of the USAPL junior 100kg ranking list. Just had a look at the '06 one there and 767.5kg woulda been enough. It’s definately something I see as being achieveable.
Hanley,
awesome vids! You may want to try wrestling shoes for your pull, instead of chucks. The wrestling shoes will be lower to the ground. Also too, in situations where there is more powder, I wet a towel and set it by the platform. Before I go and pull I stand and scuff my feet on the towel to wet my feet. I shuffle on the platform to remove the excess and this helps give me more friction on my feet.
Also, remember you can move the bar on the platform. I just move it to where visibly there is less powder. Sometimes it is right in front of the head ref! Once again, great job, keep posting vids.

Congratulations, you did an awesome job. Those numbers are such a huge jump from this time last year, all that hard work’s paying off!! ![]()
Some good goals there too, and you’ll get them!
Hanley,
Awesome! You’re just killing the weight.
It’s been fun watching your progress, so keep up the great effort and keep us posted.
Hanley - nice work buddy. One little tip I like to use. I take an old towel with me to the meets and get it a little damp and place it next to the platform for deads. Then I step on it before I do the deads, it is damp enough to wipe off most things without getting it super wet, usually works well.
Keep up the good work.
