Benidikt Magnusson did a 1090kg total,
405 kg squat
275 kg bench
410 kg deadlift
He attempted the 425kg twice, and managed to get it up to his knees smoothly both times, but couldn’t straighten up with the load.
Audunn Jonsson did a 1117.5 kg total
432.5 kg squat
300 kg bench
385 kg deadlift
For them both most of those lifts were meet PR and most likely records outside of the Icelandic federation.
Videos, pictures and more will circulate soon, check out http://www.kraft.is and http://www.stevegym.net if you want to attempt to see them without understanding Icelandic.
I heard on another forum that Magnusson is being touted as the first guy that will break a grand in the deadlift. Nice lifts, those icelanders are always freakish as proven by their countless competitiors is WSM and Powerlifting championships.
He’s almost there. He definently has the grip strength to do it. And also, remember that he’s only what, 21-22 years old.
Another 19 year old deadded 335kg
They train togeather.
When Magnusson did 410kg for the first time in Gym80 (the gym to train in, founded by Jon Pal Sigmarsson) he took down a little framed picture that featured Tibor doing the 408kg and threw it into his training bag
The kid got spirit and the raw power to pull through with the grand (455 kg I think)

On the left of the website (www.kraft.is), there is a button that says “English”. It’ll turn the whole website into English :)[/quote]
Heh, there is! I wouldn’t count on it being up to date tho
And since most of the federation was having an anniversary dinner this evening and are getting pissed drunk afterwards, I don’t think the images will be online until late sunday afternoon at first (GMT).

Before his untimely death in 93’ (1/16 to be exact) Jon Pall Sigmarsson deadlifted more than a grand . I believe 1,072 lbs to be exact .

Could you offer some proof of this? I looked around and couldn’t find it; the closest I found was a 1153 pound 3/4 deadlift.

Not in any powerlifting meet, no. Perhaps a partial, yes.
Benne is a freak of nature. He will break the record.
