Chill. The. Fuck. Out.

It’s just caps lock, he isn’t actually shouting…

I’m aware. That was my way of calling him a douchebag because anyone who types in all caps lock is a douchebag. Case closed.
Sitting on forums picking up on the the slightest error in peoples posts is a characteristic i definatly associate with doucebags you my friend are a pain in the arse i was simply posting my opinion if you dont have an opinion then why the fuck are you here just to piss me off ?

Hows your post workout stretch routine? Have you tried foam rolling?

I squat 6 days a week with my Olympic weightlifting club and a solid static stretch routine and the addition of a foam roller is a god send. Recovery is MUCH faster.

You’re right, that caps lock must have been an error, I’m sure you didn’t even notice it when you were typing.

Welcome to the boards, arseface.

45-60 seconds as hot as you can handle, then as cold as you can go, repeat 6 times. If you want to sleep better, end it with hot, dry off and go to sleep. There’s an article about it on elitefts but I can’t find it right now…

It seems to me a good addition to that question would be, How much contrast does there need to be?

Here, the gym shower water is probably 72 degrees in the summer, as well as most of the spring and fall. It does not seem to me that contrast showers are effective in that condition.

I have a vague impression of usefulness in winter months where the water temperature may drop to the high 60s.

Obviously, it might be quite a different story in parts of the country where tap water might be in the 50s, but I have no experience in that. ???

I live in Southern Arizona and currently, contrast showers are totally ineffective since the water does not actually get cold. Sucks ass.

do you guys not have access to ice baths? or a plunge pool?
Uh…well I don’t. And I don’t want to fill my own bathtub up with ice either. I don’t know what a plunge pool is.

that caps lock pic had me laughing!

I prefer PVC. Aside from it being hella cheap, I like its harder surface.

ITT

ALL POSTS ARE IN CAPSLOX!!!

disclaimer:(?)
I have seen people go into shock jumping from a hot tub or sauna straight into the pool as a life guard.

The idea is to lower cortisol post workout not raise it.

Hot/cold showers. 2 mins hot, 1 min cold, 3 times, finish on cold (doesn’t have to be freezing, it numbs you after 15 secs).

My coach was saying the training response is decreased if you have a straight ice bath, and it’s used more for those who need to feel good the next day (i.e. consecutive days of competition).

I would highly recommend a static stretching routine, 30-60 second holds hitting everywhere you’ve worked and other muscles that get tight.

x2 to the foam roller, or if you don’t have one then tennis/hockey/golf ball depending on how hardcore you want to be.

Invictica, whats your static stretch routine?

I foam ball or pvc rol as much as possible
use contrast baths , showers and yes ice baths.

I foam roll at night and in the morning with some other mobility/dynamic stretch stuff.
contrast showers are a no brainer- man up - turn the hot water all the way off.
and repeat if you like.

contrast baths- I fill up the tub with the only hot water, add epsom salts ,
get in for as long as I can- 10 minutes is a long time, pull the plug
stand in a cold shower.

I did the ice baths in college- and a few places I trained cause they had ice making machines
if you are ever traveling most hotels have ice machines in the hallway- its free
just a pain in the ass to carry it all to the bath.

If I am in a great deal of pain- I will go buy a few bags of ice they are about 2$ for an 8lb bag.
10 bucks worth goes a long long way.

I recall utilizing these ice baths while in college, as they were supposed to reduce soreness and improve recovery from intense exercise. The contrast we used was a nice warm temperature, followed by a dunk in cold ass water. Plenty of ice cubes floating around in it to give you an idea. As you can imagine, they were not fun, but I do feel that they did help. There was also an idea that ice bath increased metabolic rate, not so sure about that one.
