Ians Twelve Week Program

T-Guys, I started working out recently. I used to workout but due to
various stupid problems, I negelcted and was away from it. Recently
when I hit the gym it felt soooo good! Anyway my question: Is it ok to
start the 12 week Ian King program or should I stick with the basic stuff
for a little while and then get into the program. Your advice would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks, JohnnyTwoTimes

Ian has lots of 12 week program. Be specific. If you’re talking about the new “bring the pain” one then I’d say no. It’s designed for advanced lifters who’ve already gone through his old programs.

I am talking about the Limping series and the Twelve Weeks to Super Strength, Phase I through IV. Thanks.

You might want to train a couple weeks first using a normal program (free weights). Maybe the beginner’s program in one of the last Dawg School columns. If you’re untrained, all those unilateral movements in Ian’s programs might leave you feeling a little unbalanced. Or you could just jump right in. Probably doesn’t matter much.
