'I Want to Look Like That Guy.' The Movie

Being at 6% is one thing. But surely one could stay at 9-10% without fainting and feeling like shit. He makes getting lean sound like anorexia. Then again, looking like photo-ready fitness models and bodybuilders, who must be dry and manipulate their electrolyte and water consumption, is probably unsustainable. The general public probably thinks these models walk around all year looking like that.

Maybe this will sway some minds.

I cant stand when people try to validate someone being strong or huge by saying “its only because of roidzz”

Not many people realize what it takes to get there.
This could be like 90% of the people who post on youtube videos having anything to do with liftingLOLO

Yeah I know its so annoying. I just want to watch videos. I cant help but scroll down and see some dumbass debate going on.

I really like how it will show the hard work and dedication that is required to “look like that” but I lost some respect for the guy when I saw this comment (which is supposedly the guy from the video)

“I’m fine. In the video you’ll see how achieving this “ideal” look affects your personal life. It was so lonely and hard. Why on earth are we sold that this is how we should look when it’s just not functional, that’s my problem with the industry. That ideal look is so hard to get that people are wasting thousands of dollars annually chasing a dream that is way out of their reach.”

awesome find,op.

Has anyone found anywhere to watch or DL this online?

No, but I want to re-read Denis Leary’s book “Why We Suck” again…

Seems interesting.

so i’m late to the party.

but uhhh g87…wanna go out?

I moved out of my work office today (into an old empty one upstairs) because we let this new girl in and she keeps bringing in fast food to eat, and for me it is such a hassle having to deal with the smell… so I left.

I guess that has something to do with this, since I try to stay as lean and muscular as possible year-round; like this guy did for a few weeks to do a contest.

I wonder if that has anything to do with my constant high level of stress? If I listened to the video maybe I would believe it. But no, it is probably the least of my issues.

Humans were not meant to have a constant positive energy balance… so don’t believe this “hype.”

For my last MMA fight a couple years ago, I dieted down from 205ish to 190ish, then cut water the day of weigh ins to make 185. The week of the fight, I had my BF tested with calipers(supposedly accurate to +/-4%), and our ATC came up with 4%. I didn’t faint everytime I stood up, and I had plenty of energy to do lifting/conditioning every morning, and fight training every night. Haven’t seen the docu, but am curious what type of diet he was following to feel that bad.

My diet down was over the course of 5-6 weeks, IIRC.

What is coming out of this guy’s mouth is extremely irritating to hear for someone who is trying to professionally get people healthier and look lean and fit. Its not fucking hard to buy food that won’t put tires around your waistline. Don’t put it in your house plain and simple. This guy makes you think humans beings have absolutely no sense or self control and stop at every single mcdonalds on their way home and to work each day.

Myself and countless others have been able to remain in single digit body fat numbers over the course of years without starvings themselves in the slightest or exercising like maniacs. I never feel like passing out when I stand up. That shit is retarded.

I apologize for the rant. What bothers me the most is that this human being is giving the average person absolutely no hope of getting into shape. Dieting and exercising MUST be a priority for EVERY human being. We were meant to move and eat properly. It does not need to be difficult and I don’t see this video as a step in the right direction. It just shows me how weak and fat this society has become.

Haven’t watched it, but, uh, if 6% bodyfat isn’t “functional”, then what the fuck is?

I’ve seen fighters around 7-8% bodyfat and you don’t get much more “functional” than a fighter.

10%?
12%?
15%? (lol…)

I think a big factor is how people view food. I mean who doesnt love pizza or bow down before their personal bacon idol (eaten and rebuilt daily) food is pretty awesome (not talking about fast food but good food) and being healthy or lean means you can’t eat a lot of it. So how do you change the way a person thinks about food and portion sizes.

In the OP’s video this guy was fat but not totally out of shape. This guy got in shape but it’s obvious that beforehand he was sporting a decent amount of muscle mass, far from being a total lardass. He mostly lost the fat and maintained his initial muscle mass. This movie is somewhat misleading.

Yes, but I will not say that I downloaded it. However if I did, it would take about 16 hours since theres not many people sharing this video.

If you google:

i want to look like that guy torrent

you might be able to download the video which would take 16 hours even on a high speed connection. 1st google hit.

I would watch the video even though I think his commentary is bullshit.

#1 No one said it would be easy to make that transformation in just 6 months. If he would did it over the course of a year or more, it would’ve been easier on him physically and mentally.

#2 He’s not taking into account genetics. I knew guys who walked around lean with their abs showing who barely worked out. On top of that, they didn’t eat super healthy. But they did stay away from pure junk food.

#3 At one point they showed him and his trainer panicking over 1 bad dinner. They said the whole project is in jeopardy. That’s basically a single cheat meal. Are you fucking kidding me?

I too would like to see what diet they had this shmuck on because I’ve lost 30 lbs in about 13 weeks and although I was hungry during the diet, I never felt like I was going to faint.

^
It’s all about trying to sell a movie/documentary so they add things to create suspense and for people to relate to what he’s going through. They do this is every documentary regarding fitness/nutrition. I hear the claims that came from Super Size Me was bunk.

I’ve known plenty of models, male and female, who have never struggled to maintain low bodyfat and a great shape. I’ve known people who were born premature and never put on fat until their 40s despite eating all the shite under the sun. Also known a lot of athletes who ate like a horse (or more likely a pig coz a horse eats just hay) and were ripped to shreds from massive activity.

But the best of all, going across primitive rural areas (e.g remote China) and seeing everyone ripped to goddam shreds although I think that is a combination of genetics, insane constant hard work and starvation, plus lots of people who can’t hack it, died.

It is harder or easier for people depending on your personal situation.

I like the idea of this video because it will teach ordinary people that it is possible and takes hard work. There are ignorant people out there who thinks it won’t, and they will try some bullshite product, fail, and give up. Better they hear it takes hard work, and then go the full distance. Rather than think there is something wrong with them.

The other 80% of people won’t get the message, won’t do it, who cares they are a lost cause.

But this video might serve some purpose for some people.

Also, better to go for 12% bodyfat, spend 2 years getting there, enjoy the journey. What’s the frikkin’ hurry all the time? Everyone wants things now. Bodybuilding is a loooooong journey, a “marathon of sprints over decades”. Not an overnight magic pill.

this is pretty much the message of this documentary, don’t you think?

This video is a giant step forward for those trying to make everyone into androgynous blobs. The point of the video is not only that fitness is hard, but because its so hard, its stupid. So it makes viewers feel not only that they can’t do it, but they would be stupid for trying.
