So I started using Fitday.com and I think my macro’s are screwed up. Is this too much protein and not enough fat? I’m on a low carb diet, consuming carbs after my lifts only. I’m currently on a bulking phase ideally gaining minimal amounts of protein.
Damn, I meant minimal amounts of fat. Also, i didn’t think that screen shot would be that small. The breakdown is:
3,793 Calories
125g Fat
124g Carb
521 g protein
I weigh 215lbs. My bf % is ~15. 6’1"
Well, Im not professor X (you asked for him I believe), but you’ll be stuck with me for now
Im all for high protein consumption, but your taking in more than 2x your body weight in protein. On top of that, your carbs and fat dont even come close to a COMBINED total compared to your protein.
Your body is going to become good at using protein for fuel. Thats the major problem.
I don’t even know how you consume that much protein, but I’d bring it down to 300g a day, and up your fat and/or carb intake to compensate for the loss in calories.
I think that so long as your carbs and fat aren’t in ‘bad’ areas (ie. so many carbs that you gain adipose tissue, or so many saturated fats that you have a heart attack -lol), excessive protein shouldn’t be a problem. THe calories have to come from somewhere, and I’ve always been of the school of thinking that if you’re going to overeat any macro, it should be protein (thermic effect of digestion etc…)
Most days on my diet I’m getting way more protein than I intended, but considering that I have to regulate the carbs, and fats have more cals overall… that’s all I’m left with to pick from.

Ideally gaining minimum amounts of what?
Yes, you are probably overdoing the protein, cut it down to 350ish, and up your carbs.
Why are you low carb bulking? If you want to reduce fat gain, add in some extra cardio.
I don’t know what to eat besides meat and fish. For my fats I eat nuts, whole eggs and avocados.
Any suggestions of things I can add to each meal so I can eat some other than meat?
Before I started this diet, I included some carbs with each meal and noticed that I was gaining fat. I’ve been on this diet for 4 weeks now; I’m getting stronger, more muscular, and leaner.

Then leave it alone.
Why try fix something that’s working?
I second leaving it alone. If you don’t have health, energy, or GI problems then don’t sweat it. I personally start to feel like shit w/out many fats, but everyone is different.

I thought you were the guy who ate quite a bit of cheese, and therefore saturated fat? Forgive me if I’m wrong. I’m a huge fan of saturated fats since that study said it raised good cholesterol or something.
