Hi everyone, neewbie here, joined today and have been addicted 100%, i’ve been reading most of the forums and just want to say this is really good info, im glad my wife’s trainer at Balleys recomended this.

ok here’s my situation, im 6’- 3" 205 lbs, working on a 4 days weight training (been going to the gym for 3 months now and so far im loving the results) and twice a week we do spinning, sounds gay to some but my wife wants me to have a hard rock ass. i purchased today 2 jars of Surge, and was woundering what other supplements you guys recommend. i want to go up to be around 215-220.
thanks guys for taking the time in reading this, any advice helps

For right now Surge and Grow! should be quite good. We first off need to know about your goals to make other reccomendations.
On a side note: Someone else posted a pic of their dog besides me!

Welcome
I would also get some Grow! if I was you. No matter what is your goal you will need lots of quality protein.

Doesn’t count, sorry bro!

A fellow countryman. Bienvenido.

Stick with protein, EFAs and a multivitamin. I think that is all you need.

Man you really just need to diet and take a multivitiman. Dont waste your money on such crap.

I tell women all the time in the gym that if they want a “rock hard ass” to squat and squat low.

The question of whether to supplement is always an issue. I suggest supplements but only in what you consider critical areas. There is always a matter of too much supplementation… this is supported by many superiors in the areas of strength training / nutrition.

Personally when I think of critical areas I think of Post-Workout and Night. You’ve already addressed one of these by going with Surge. Next, night, I would suggest some Grow!. There is no need to get carried away with this… Just some Grow! good flax seed oil liquid and you have covered the night area as well. On top of that the only other supplement I recommend is ZMA. As far as I know there is only one study that showed the benefits of ZMA… I personally do not take it because of that study (which addressed strength issues) but take it for the quality of sleep I get with it. While I am not totally sure how much better it is… for $10 bucks I throw it in with my other orders.

Now, keep in mind that these supplement recommendations are with the understanding that you are including healthy fats in your diet (fish oil caps, flax oil liquid, olive oil). I am one to always push the fats as I think this is the area commonly messed up (be it too much, too little, or the wrong type).

As for the spinning, I won’t address the issues with training as I don’t have much knowledge base in that area. I personally have nothing wrong with spinning, it happens one of three lifestyles for me.

Hope this helps. Take some time to read up (I personally suggest John Berardi).

This isn’t about supplements per se, but if your are new to the site, go here next.

Thanks guys for the Info, your all very kind, i didnt expect such a quick response, as for John Berardi articles, they are great i have read the 2 regarding the myths of training where he ends up promoting Surge, and what can i say, i was convinced.

As for my goals… hmm good question im relatively new to this, but i feel i have an “so-so ok” build, but want more MUCH more, my wife is grade A ass and i have to keep up, ben married for 4 years and every year she looks hotter and i look older and fatter so i need to catch up. i consider myself to be diciplined, if i need to go more time to the gym i will, if i need to eat a certain way i will, in not that picky, when i see something i want i go and get it, and right i now i want to get big, maybe 15-20 lbs more but of muscle, i stoped drinking beer, no deep fried foods, been eating alot of veggies and grilled food, trying to be more healthy. does that give you guys an idea of my goal? i think i went on a tangent, sorry.

thanks again everyone for the help,

oh and Julius, q viva Colombia! i’m from Medellin, what about u?

Sounds like you are making the right steps. Keep reading Berardi… it shortens the learning curve dramatically.

Got the Surge, that was quick, my wife just called and the Surge came in, now i really want to get home and go to the gym, i also placed an order last night for some Grow!, should i wait and take them together or start tonight with the Surge?
i want to thank everyone again for the constant help and advice, i really didnt expect such a quick and positive reaction for the forum, thanks!

you don’t need to wait and take them together. It really doesn’t make a difference. The Grow! is a protein blend which is used because its a good source of protein and its not always practical/affordable to eat whole food protein sources, which are ideal. The Surge can be taken with training. They are supplements though. If you didn’t take them at all, and ate 1g protein/lb. of bodyweight and healthy foods, trained hard using the basics, you’d make great gains. Don’t overthink things

In fact, you shouldn’t take them “together” ever. But you probably (hopefully) know that and meant “in the same day”.

No, you don’t need to start taking them simultaneously. Surge is for workout nutrition. Grow! is for nutrition when you’re not working out. They can be used independently.
