I posted this once when the forum was changing but didn’t get a response, so I’ll try again. I’m leaving for Destin, FL thursday morning and I need a gym to visit while I’m there. It just won’t seem like a vacation unless I get to go to the gym some. Anyone around there wanna help me out? Where’s a good gym?
As I recall IronBabe, you are going on vacation with your hubby. A week out of the gym would probably be a good thing. i just took a vacation to Cancun with Mrs. Roids and I purposely stayed out of the gym even though my timeshare complex has one. What i did was plan out my next twelve week Ian King style workout schedule. Its amazing how long it takes and how many refinements you make to a paln of that length. The only exercise I had was swimming and taking long evening walks. I came back refreshed and my lifts, after one week back, increased about 5%. And, I am not a newbie by a long shot so any gains I get are appreciated. I would suggest that forget the gym idea, plan your next 3 month schedule to keep the enthusiasm yp and just take a nice vacation with Mr. Babe. Buen Viaje!
There is a golds in Ft. Walton which will probably only charge you 5 bucks a day and is easy to get to in a car. They’re in the book and can give you directions.
I could’nt agree more with “AvoidsRoids”. Give your body a break and give your love life a chance. The exception might be that Mr Babe wants to work-out as well!!!
Go to Yahoo and click on maps. Then type in the address of where you are staying, click get map. Click Near by Businesses, then Recreation & Sports, then health clubs. It will give you a list of gyms starting with the one closest to your location. Call a few and see if they have what you are looking for. Pretty Cool, expecially if you travel a lot.
Thanks A.R. , but both my hubby and I want to work out. We just feel better when we do. If nothing else, it’s our time together (away from the kids)doing something we both love. We could take a week off, we’ve done it before, but this week isn’t the week we want to do that. As for yahoo maps - I’ll check them but if they are a part of mapquest, it was useless to me. It only listed some “health club” type places and only one place called “The Training Effect” (which sounded promising.) It didn’t even list a Gold’s. I’ll check yahoo anyway just in case they get their info from a different database than mapquest. Ft. Walton is close, I’ll try that Gold’s if I don’t find one closer. Thanks everyone. Oh yeah, see you all in a week or so.
Ironbabe–why not use this time for some alternative type workouts? You needn’t go to the gym for a nice workout. Go for a run on the beach. Find an athletic field and do sprints. I recently started sprinting and man, talk about sore quads, calves and hams! Follow these with some Ian King single leg work off of bleachers or picnic bench. Look for some monkey bars and do pullups. Lots of towns have trails with pullup or dip stations. Have a pullup workout with your hubby. Different grips, tempo etc. Do pushups, stretch in the grass, find a public pool or Y and swim, or swim in ocean… Use this time for a mental break away from the weights regimen. A vacation should be a change in daily routine. If you’re going to do the same thing you do at home, why go on vacation?? Throw something new at the body. It will eat it up! Then come back recharged and ready to go.
Ok ok! I got the point. We decided to take our bikes for a bit of exercise and to drop the weights for the week. I just hope my bikini fits after eating seafood I won’t go crazy, but I am going to enjoy some foods I normally don’t. See you all on the 25th. I’m leaving in a few hours.
