I’m Embarrassed by Americans, Disgusted Even

corona in amercia aha god In France some people are not better but really i laught when i see that,

rene guenon the crisis of the modern world …

Patrick never served in the military. What he said might sound noble but for the fact he’s lying. He has access to testing, great healthcare and can limit his contact with people. These people want others to take a bullet so they won’t have to bite one.

And dying from corona is not exactly pleasant. You die alone hooked up to a machine or suffocating on your phlegm for days if you can’t get a ventilator.

I was hopeful all the charts and everything saying where it would go weren’t accurate. Now it seems like they are either where they said or even worse. I suppose depending on what we were looking at. Been hoping for the best and that hasn’t worked out so far. But I will keep hoping we see the other side of this and diminish soon.

A crisis ain’t going to waste.

You have to understand the differences. Those people were asked to fight in foreign lands and potential die for it. Asking younger generations to do more of what they already do most of the time is a step too far. You can’t compare my grandpa going to a pleasant vacation to Iwo Jima to staying inside and playing on the Internet. Think of what you’re asking young people to do and have some empathy for them. Some of them have beaten Mario and watched all the episodes of the office. You can’t really expect them to have to put in Zelda and watch Parks and Rec.

A lot of this depends on the numbers. Every year, people die from the flu. Nobody recommends shutting down businesses during flu season, even though certainly we could probably reduce the spread of flu by doing so.

I’m not arguing against any particular action in this case, but it has to be understood that this can’t be a black and white issue. Inherent in everyday life is the assumed risk that some people will die. Banning passenger(or even just greatly increasing the requirements to get a license) cars would certainly save lives.

On the other hand, if it’s true that 30% of the population is high risk and 20% of those would die if infected, we’re talking about hundreds of millions of deaths worldwide if everyone is exposed. The thing is, we’re probably the better part of four months into a world with Coronavirus. China appears to have had less than 4000 deaths. That’s a lot of people, but probably much less than traffic fatalities in the same period in China. It certainly isn’t 6% of their population.

Which is to say, many people aren’t taking it seriously because deep down they don’t believe it is as serious as some say. Frankly, it is hard to prove them wrong without a bunch of bodies unfortunately.

Me, I’m locked home with the family working from home. I don’t believe it’s as bad as the doom prophets say, but in my position it’s relatively easy to just stay home.

Yes. And I can’t think of any good idea that shouldn’t be legislated if we accept this justification.

Imagine if all those people who died from the flu over the course of a year all died over the course of a month.

i’am agree with u, just the fact it is that u can give this shit really easyily so that is the problème, we don’t know how the virus can change, can growth also, and if we can save some peoples it is already that, after a believe in the “mektoub” destiny, so if i get this virus it is like that but we can also be responsable and to be safe, stay in the house is also good, peaceful, peoples can learn like that, but peoples run against the loneliness escpecally in Occident, they can’t be bored and so on, they start to be crazy

After a lot of peoples don’t understand when nothing happen to them, human being are like that unfortunetly, in a way we deserve that

Then the reality of what happened and is happening in Italy looks at you and says you are an idiot. The reality of what is going on in nyc tells you that your stats are cute as it laughs in your face.

Reality. That thing you’ll encounter when you leave the basement.

hope that we will not have a second wave and so on also, it is just the beginning, will see in china if it is finish or not

If the entire country institutes a 30 day lockdown at the same time, it should be enough. The problem is that Trump has a three second attention span and is bored by being by himself, and that’s all that matters for a narcissist.

Luckily, the lockdowns are up to the states.

the problem it is always in the top mean (poltics and so on) in the beginning in my country (France) they say don’t worry it is nothing just a flu nothing more, that will stay in china, and now they cry like a pussy

it is same with tchernobyl, they says that will not come to ur country yeah yeah, same shit same noise in all of the country is like that, just asian peoples are clever

Understood that this is worse than the flu. My point is that this has to be evaluated on a sliding scale. It’s not a cut and dry moral issue. On any particular day, pre-virus, by going out I took a risk that my presence would cause someone’s death through any myriad of means. That risk was so small that I considered it basically negligible. But it existed.

The question is, what is that risk now and what level do I consider acceptable. Neither of those questions has a definitive answer. Experts are speaking in a range of what the outcomes might be. And if I’m forced to answer exactly what risk to people around me I consider acceptable, I’ll probably seem callous. The inability to process this uncertainty means people behave emotionally.

It is cut and dry. Lives which cannot return after they are lost (as well as permanent lung damage in some who recover) vs a temporary economic loss. The economy is not going to collapse and the nation is not going to perish. That’s doomsday talk that rivals the doomsday talk about the virus.

the economic is more important for a lot of people than the life, because they loose the sens of the reality

Ils venerent l’argent.
