45 minute brisk walk after around my coastal town home.
Back n biceps tomorrow. Around 11 or 12 is my new workout time, am a night owl, dont hit the hay till 4-5am anyway. i feel stronger at that time and the gym is nice and quiet.
Like the machines in this new commercial gym, but the weight stacks are too small, so i think ill add resistances band to the machine to increase the resistance toward the contraction range.
mate after a few double whiskeys Michael Flatley has nothing on me lol…
Still plugging away, for the last few weeks ive went back to a minimalist deadlift/press/row
several days a week, pretty much a Pavel Tsatsouline power to the power type of program. Absolutely loving it, but it makes for boring reading.
Test400 has kicked in well now too, currently running 1 ml every 3rd day. Joints and my back are feeling better than they have in a long time, moods are better (ive bipolar), recovery is good.
Think I’ll keep a membership in this particular gym along with the SM gym. Has an older more pleasant crowd then most other commercial gyms I’ve been in.
Finished the mini DL,OHP, row cycle, enjoy it and made progress on the big two, wasn’t gonna push my luck though. The last session was a 470kg rack Pull and 72kg monster DB press. Slightly tweaked my shoulder one the lockout. Time to back off a little
Hi Harry, thanks mate. Theres more in the tank. Yes, i live out in the sticks, but still close enough to several big well equipped gyms. Love the strongman gym, but ive decided to take a wee break from it, too many times a one hour workout can turn i to a two hour workout because theres a bit too much chit chat lol. Right now i wanted drop excess lard and increase my pound for pound strength, i need to be somewhere i can just go in with tunnel vision get the job done. But i still keep in touch with the lads from the SM gym and meet up for a “wee drop of something wet”. v
Seated pully row
Top set; 130kg stack x 8 to failure + 2 partials to failure (slight hold in the contracted position)
High handle trap bar deadlift hold (belt and strapless)
Top rep; 277kg x 1 + hold to failure
Parallel grip chins
Top rep; BW (static hold to failure with chin over the handles with a superslow negative)
Weighted 45 degree hypers
Top set; BW + 25kg x 16 (stopped just shy of failure on these).
** Workout was completed within 30 minutes. Going forward all my workouts will last no longer than 30 minutes, but theyll be higher frequency.
100% Harry, swimming and daily brisk walks having helped greatly to get my weight heading in the right direction. Ill be 45 in June, being 280lb isnt good, whether its muscle or fat (my lean mass is pretty good). I believe ill be healthier at 240lb @ 6’4, plus stronger and fitter.
Steep incline smith machine press
132.5kg x 4 paused deadstart reps
Seated long pully row
100kg x 8/3/3 (20 second rest pause between efforts)
Trap bar deadlift hold
260kg x 3 deadstart reps plus a static hold to failure on the last rep
Reverse thumbless grip cable curl
25kg x 12
Went back to daily deadlift, press, row, getting stronger everytime i go back to the same variation. Feel great, no recovery issues. Someone in the gym told me ill “burn out” preforming big lifts everyday. I said well my dad didnt burn out as a furniture remover that worked 50-60 hrs a week for 30 years!! And he was a man mountain with hands like a bunch of bananas and a vice like grip.
High handles TBDL (off 2" mats)
277kg x 1 with a hold to failure
One arm DB push press
60kg x 5 RA, 4 LA
70kg x 2 RM, 0 LA
Seated low pully row
90kg x 14 reps to fail
The pully row machines at the other gyms am at 130-140kg, but the technogym version feels like theres much more friction. But makes it better in some ways, can hold the contration on rep better. Strength continues to climb!!
