Now that I’ve slept I have a few more observations about the meet. Taking the bar from the monolift was uncomfortbale even though I walked it out. Something about the bar felt wobbly to me but I couldn’t tell you exactly what. The skin of my hands between the thumb and forefinger got pinched by the monolift hooks on my first squat so I have small blood blisters on both hands. It didn’t really hurt but it stung and looked owrse than it was.
I was glad I trained with a long pause on bench because it seemed to help keep me focused.
Deads came up better than I expected and for some reason I likede the feel of their DL bar much better than I do the ones at the gym.
Several people commented that I could have handled more weight but on the whole I’m glad I stuck in the weight ranges I had planned on.
Great job, Joe. You looked really confident. So interesting to me how all the meets/feds are different. In USAPL, you can’t even step on the platform until the weights are loaded. And here you almost pull your last DL while the guy is putting the collar on. Funny!
You must feel just great. Really stellar performance for your first meet!

awesome Joe ! So glad you had a good time and now have been officially bitten by the PL bug!
Lucky guy, got to see big Wade hit 2400! How about May meet in Atmore AL ?
Yeah that was crazy, seeing the squat alone was worth the drive. Oh yeha I am seriously considering doing that meet.
Yea do the Atmore meet, I’ll be there too.
Some observations:
on the monolift, you can have them set the “rack” out, not in, as you had it. That might give your hands more room so you don’t pinch when reracking the bar.
Bench - put some dang wieght on the bar!!! You have so much more in you.
DL stance on 2nd was wider then other 2 DL stances…take your time, a good setup is important.
Great 1st meet, and you left alot on the platform. Congrats !

Thanks thats good to know about the monolift. I had never even been near one before.
Several of the people there said I should add more weight on all three lifts next time. I wanted to be cautious but now I kind of wish I had been a bit more aggessive.

That really made my day, seeing you hit all those lifts with authority. You are a natural at this powerlifting business.
I don’t know about that, there was a certain build that seemed to go with being really powerful and its not a build I’m going to have.

Yeah that sort of threw me. They were trying to do the pulls pretty swiftly because it was getting on in the afternoon so they were pletting you pull almost as soon as the weight was set. So they set the weight and I think the guy forgot to put the collar on at first.
