RE: the “uno, dos, tres, quatorces!” bit…
I believe that means “one, two, three, fourteen!” (I don’t speak Spanish), and I also believe that there is a story behind that. It’s not that he can’t speak Spanish, it’s that there’s a meaning behind ‘1, 2, 3, 14!’.
However, I can’t remember what the story was, nor where I read it. I also don’t feel like hunting it down.
But if anyone else interested enough, by all means hunt away.
No problem.
From wikipedia:
At the beginning of the song, U2 lead singer Bono counts off in Spanish unos, dos, tres, catorce!. In the version on the live album U2.Communication, Bono falsely announces the language as Gaelic. In English, this translates to “one, two, three, fourteen!” (Proper translation of “one, two, three, four” would be “uno, dos, tres, cuatro.”) When asked about this oddity in an interview for Rolling Stone, Bono replied “there may have been alcohol involved.”
Just one more reason he’s a fuckup. Confuses spanish with another language. Can’t count properly to four.

being langers and attempting to count in spanish, bono would easily get confused considering counting in irish, 2 and 3 sounds similar to the spanish pronunciation of the same numbers with 4 being an obvious slip of the tounge. it looks like this, a ceathair, and sounds like this, caher.
i know who cares, so sorry lads, i thought i needed to add this little bit of info : )
