haha <3

It all depends on your body’s shape and structure. Squats work for some and not for others. I used to dread doing squats as well. What i found best was to do very light weight and get my form down to the T. Once i got my form down right, i increased the weight. I like to start my leg day by warming up on the leg extension.

Gets the blood flowing and warms my knees up. I move to the squat rack and do pyramid sets. I’ll start with the bar alone and then pyramid up to 335 for reps. I like to keep em for at least 10-15. Good pump and good growth.

I know why you want to squat better/more. I do ask this though - why? Just for the strength you will receive or body composition? I’ve squatted like a warrior for a long time and all I got to show for it was a good squat. My legs didn’t grow much from them. People can call you a pussy or whatever they want, but leg presses and hack squats will do more for size than squatting every will.

There are more than few on this site that will say the same thing. Front squatting however is a different story.
x9000

Fuck squatting.
What do you prefer?

leg press and hack squat are what builds the biggest legs, IMO.

stretch ankles . every body should sqwaut full . by the way full squat enhace your sex drive with time

Why do something you hate? There are plenty of other exercises that will cause your legs to grow. I don’t know how you have stuck with something you hate for an entire year; you must have some serious iron will.

Some people beleive that gatting better at the things you hate and suck at make you better. Hardly anyone does squats the first time with perfect form and falls in love with them. You gotta learn to love em.

Its taken nearly a year and i think ‘love’ is a strong word, i do find myself looking forward to leg day now so i can get to squatting. Definitely feel a lot more comfortable now ive sorted out my form.

Warming up my hamstrings with leg curls has really helped as well i think.

Seem to be progressing every week as well, the vid in this thread shows me doing 225x5 and

i was just about spent. 2 days ago i smashed 225x10 pretty easily.

same with 275, used to struggle to do 3 reps, did 6 2 days ago.

I know its not much compared to a lot of people but its what i got at the moment, plan on improving it over time,

At the end of the day the weight on the bar isnt a big issue, i get what i need to from them at a weight thats comfortable.

Apart from braggin rights on forums, a 500lb squat isnt guna get me further along in life than

a 315 squat.

How long will it take to double my sex drive from squatting?

Hey guys, i fogot about this thread!

Heres a linkt o my squat from a 2 months or so back.

Anyway since i started this thread, i started to add walking lunges and goblet squats to my leg routine as well.

I squated this week with a guy in the gym, strapped on a belt and i’ve got my squat up to 360x3 with a belt.

Was really happy about this as my previous best was 275x3.

I have no idea how this happend, maybe it was because i had a spotter and wasn’t so scared about getting under a bar heavier than i’ve attempted before.

That was 2 days ago and my quads, glutes are still smoked, walking around like 12’’ of mandingo have been in me.

No pain no gain.

Bar placement is too high.

I reccomend staying away from the trannys, but to each his own.

Those that dont ‘feel’ squats. I question how many reps you are doing. It should be a law of nature that quads respond unsusually well to very high reps. I havent done a set of of a squat variation under 15 reps in a real long time. Forget about the amount of raw weight.

Yes there is merit to getting under a very heavy bar and squatting it 3 times. But this should be a rare exception.

Seriously. Those of you who dont think squats work should do 2 things. ONE. Fix your form so your body moves the way it is designed to (squatting is the most natural movement one can do in a gym) and TWO: make your leg workout 5 sets of squats. make the first 3 sets at least 20 reps (ramp up the weight). Then keep ramping up the weight and make the last 2 sets at least 15 reps. Progress from there.

If you dont get a pump from almost 100 reps of squats then your form is horrible.
Bonez - Great reply on squats, but I would like to know your thoughts on deadlifts. What rep ranges do you personally apply to deadlifts for hypertrophy?

BTW - I am betting Waylander does not do deadlifts either.

deadlifts are for hamstrings and traps and lower back . off a block for hamstrings stes of five heavy . for lower back off the floor more … deadlifts will mostly grow hams in low reps . i dont see any results with sets of 15 reps on deads… only a pump better do hyperextensions then

This is why I only do 1 or 2 sets of high rep squats in my programs.

Heavy ATG squats just fuck my back up and make my arse grow big. They do very little for my legs.

Squats are great if you have the build for them. If you have the build for basketball, then you don’t have the build for squats. You can still do them, but the injury potential is much higher, the benefits are less, and there are simply better and easier options out there.

i beleive thT SQUATS ARE GOOD for most everyone . if you have long legs short torso . work your flexibility . astrentghen your core . squats thenselves are great for the abs too . for athletic ability squatsa and also front squats . remains king .

I found switching to front squats hits my quads far more than back squats, plus front squats give a wicked abs workout.
