LS- I think I might do the same, but I am not moving the lbs that you are so maybe I just need to suck it up, Although I do feel a little zapped these days, but some of that could be the body revolting against my anti-skoal campaign, the freezing freakin weather, the progress report my son got from school! Is it possible to love your son and still want to shoot him?
Cycle 5 week 2 DEAD (sumo) day
warm-up stuff, foam roller, blah blah blah…
SUMO
135x10, 135x8
205x3, 230x3, 260x9 (+1rep PR), there was definitely more to be had, but I am not killing myself over a rep or two in this cycle. Want to see if my energy levels return before pressing harder.
RDL’s 5x10x155 backed off 20lbs this week to focus on feeling the hammies.
pull throughs 5x10x130 widened up my stance to be more like sumo deads…oh boy, my backside is already complaining to my brain about this unfair treatment.
10 minutes easy bike,
Peace

Nice PR, OldGoat. And the biggest difference in our poundages is bodyweight. On that one, I’ve got you hands down
It is definitely possible to love your child and want to shoot them. I spend most of my time frustrated with my daughter…school, her attitude, her mouth (towards her mother. She knows better with me.), etc… But I wouldn’t trade her for the world.
And I am already dreading the teens years, when I hug her, give her a kiss and tell her I love her…right be fore I ground her life.
LS- the teen years are a Treat! Keep lifting, you will need the strength of ZEUS for those years. I have a 15 year old daughter who rules planet earth ( just ask her) and lets everyone around her know it! When she gets in a “mood” we all scatter like cockroaches when the lights go on. Even the dog avoids her.

I have 4 daughters. I know the feeling. 19,18,16,11

I am soooo sorry. Not that you have 4 daughters, but that 3 are in their teens at the same time.
Strick- you have me covered not with just bodyweight but with every lift by a country mile…except maybe glove drops…I have beeen secretly studying the video and perfecting my form!
Cycle 5 week 2 BP day
warm-up, foam, shoulder stuff…etc
bar x mucho, 135x8, 155x6
190x3, 225x3, 245x5 just did a couple reps over min. not pushing this cycle. The 5 went up reasonably quickly considering it was 5am and this was my 3rd workout in a row. Next few weeks are college visits with my son so my schedule is getting compressed. Mostly likely have to do the same next week and then its a deload so I should survive without too much trouble.
Nice benchin’. Not that far apart at all.
Gloves drops are the secret to better living. Hard to find anything healthier than a smile and laughter from a child…especially your own.
JW- It will be fun, spending time with my boy ( even though he will have headphones on a lot) is always a good time. he is a goofy teenager that leaves me shaking my head and chuckling.
LS- True about laughter from your own!!
OP- best of luck with the college gig. I have time yet, my son is just a sophomore but is being recruited to play lacrosse. Which is good and bad. It means he will likely make his college choice early which is awfully young to know which direction is best, on the other hand it gets the anxiety over with sooner than for most…and lets me know how many 2nd and 3rd jobs I will need!
No lifting, no cardio today…taking a mulligan and sitting on sidelines for 24 hours…
120x3, 140x3, 160x8, went deep, widened my stance and I am starting to feel a little more comfortable with these…the weights will follow in time.
GM’s 5 x10 x120…time to move the weights up…I feel like I am finding a groove…going to add slowly but its time.
DB front squats 5x10x80 just a little quad burner…
rack pull from knee 225x5, 315x3, 365x1, 385x1 had nothing planned for the rest of the morning so I just threw these in for fun…sometimes breaking ranks and going AWOL on your program is fun and creates a little spark…
225x5, 250x3, 280x6 didn’t have any previous data points at 280 so this will be a baseline. Felt pretty good, hips were still a little tight from Saturday’s chaos, but no issue.
RDL’s 2x10x175, 2x8x185, these felt good.
pull-throughs 4x10x150…somebody was using the stack that goes to 200 so I did these as fast as possible with a wide stance.
Fat Bar Curls 3x10x70 ( a little somethin’ for the Mrs.!)
Thanks LS and Jack…it will take months before the Mrs notices!
warmup- 6 min treadmill, 5 min foam, 10 min mobility and shoulder stuff…
Week 3 BP day
205x5, 230x3, 260x3 …did these slow, too slow actually, but wasn’t going to max rep so I wasn’t concerned with the bar speed, just enjoying the feel of the triceps kicking at the mid point and pushing the weight up!
CGBP 3x8x175, 1x6x185, 1x4x195
supersetted with
Seated Hammer rows ; 2x10x125 3x8x135 the muti-station cable doohickey was swarming with jabba jaw early morning club so I threw some plates on the hammer machine.
Have Zerchers tomorrow ( another 3 in row week) and then its deload…I am staying with the 5/3/1 approach but going to change some of exercises in the next cycle; for goat sanity.

That is a good feeling, isn’t it!? When the weight hits your chest and you start pressing it methodically up. Feeling your strength overcoming the weight. That’s when you really get to feel your strength in action.
Thanks LS, JW…appreciate you guys always buzzing the tower!
LS- Indeed…Felt very cool.I was actually mentally relaxed with the motion…I felt like I could done a full pause rep with it. I definitely have to start un-racking some heavier stuff just to get the feel so when I get there for reps my chicken little brain doens’t hit the panic button before my body gets a chance to move the weight.
