All my friends that play sports that require an high anaerobic component start to wear t-shirts around end of february-early march; they’re all of course looked at as aliens (even if the temperature is actually nice for people used to cold climates). Being one of them, I can say that when I stop lifting/training for 3-4 days, I can already feel how the climate hits harder the lower my level of activity.

I live in Canada. You Yankees don’t know what cold is ;).
What part of Ontario? Southern Ontario would be part of the states if not for the water dividing line. After all, Port huron is north of Windsor. [/quote]
The Great Lakes tend to buffer some of the real cold stuff. I went to school in northern NY. We got all the arctic wind without Lake Ontario warming it up. I remember many a day it would not get close to zero. I remember -40 temps at night.
All the guys that claimed they wore shorts all winter ended up in parkas just like the rest of us.
When it gets that cold it doesn’t matter. It is hard on everyone.
Actually yes. Jumped in a frozen river. It was at a “spa” called Polar Bear – well not really a spa… just a couple of pools, hot tubs, and a frozen river.
Me and my buddies decided to see how long we could stay in the 5 degree C pool as well because… well we’re guys and we don’t need a good reason to do dumb shit. I shattered the unofficial record at 36 minutes. No idea how I did that without severe effects. Unfortunately that’s the highlight of my life.
And all I had to “show” for it afterwards was the effects of the shrinkage phenomena.
To me personally it’s amazing how much people will talk about the whether on a daily basis, I mean I understand it but it’s as if its their first hot or cold day ever hahaha.
I often don’t feel I need a very heavy coat if a coat at all, but the constant comments from people usually cause me to just wear a coat even if it is a thin one. I think it has a lot to do with where you grew up at. I grew up in far upstate, New York about 45 mile drive from Canada, so I prefer colder whether and cannot stand any sort of heat. I think it crosses ethnic/social lines and has to do with nurture more…I think, not sure.

Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We’ll whether the weather
Whatever the weather
Whether we like it or not.
Ah hell, it’s an easy way to be sociable without fear of being awkward.

Same here!! There is no way I will be in shorts and a T-Shirt while it’s 40 outside. I am from Southern CA…we bitch if it gets in the low 60s. This last weekend it was in the 80s.
i live in an area where the forcast tonight is 2 feat 4 inches of snow. on top of this i have to put up with the rest of canadian winter. i put on my coat with pride
Wow, God bless the internet – people all over the North America coming together…to talk about the weather.

Personally, I can’t stand the cold. I’ve been wanting to move to Arizona, but my job needs me in upstate NY right now. This year hasn’t been bad at all for us though.
Not to be a dick…but hows the weather in New York now??? lol ![]()

Maybe you’re fat, hahahaha. Just kidding, but I do see a lot of fat guys going coatless in cold weather.

LOL!!! I can’t complain, as I’m a teacher and we finally get a snow day today.
Majin, I only get colds when spring comes around. Pisses me off too, because I don’t get sick so if I get a cold, it’s BAD.
Easy E, that coat is so perfect. Snow leopards are cute and I want to pet them. I cannot because they are wild animals and are part of our delicate ecosystem. They must be clubbed and made into coats so I can pet them if the old women let me.
I wear a coat but I’m not cold without one, i just tend to get sick. I ski in just my uniform in 0 degrees and I’m fine.
