How can this stuff be zero calories? It tastes awsome, I load it on almost everything, will I experience any negative effects from this? (Also same question for splenda) Thanks
The substance doesn’t TRULY have zero calories. Just like most other food products that are “calorie free”, the only reason they can make that claim is on a PER SERVING basis. That butter spray (which I use and love) has oil in it and we all know that oil has calories. Basically, if you use the “portion” listed on the package, you might be getting .3 or .5 or .8 calories, so they just round that to zero since it’s less that 1.
Splenda: Same deal... read the back of a Splenda packet. I have some in my desk, so I'll do it for you: "Ingredients: Dextrose, Maltodextrin, Sucralose." ....Now, Sucralose may truly be a no calorie substance, but I know that Maltodextrin isn't, neither is Dextrose.. they just round down. In fact, the "old" packets of Splenda (like 2 years ago) used to say either 1 or 2 calories (I forget).. now they say ZERO calories, but the same ingredients.
