I Beg of You T-Nation!

I’m going to get straight to the point.

T-Nation needs to get rid of the “Rate my Physique” Forum. Now. It had potential at its birth, but now, I must say it is dead. Dead from all of the 150 lb teenagers on No-Xplode. Dead from the 170 lb skinny-fat guy who wants to know whether he should cut or bulk.

For every PROPER thread in the forum there are 20 or so completely retarded ones, and the sad thing is, people keep rating and replying to these idiotic threads. Shit, I just did 5 minutes ago!

For every Kiyoshi Moody or 1MoreRep there are 100 utterly stupid troll-like threads, and it makes T-Nation look really, really, pathetic. Why can’t people post in the Performance Photos forum like it used to be? What is this, like Hotornot.com? T-Nation prides itself on being different and more mature than bb.com, but now I’m not so sure

Thoughts and comments?

I can’t speak for why it was put up, but, as it stands, it’s a pretty effective method of quarantine. Just block the forum, and it’s like they don’t exist.

I find the RMP section is a great source of amusement for me.

the folks in there really enjoy the forum. You can customize your desktop so it doesn’t even appear.

and at least those folks are posting pics of their progress and putting their work out there

I sometimes consider filtering that forum from my view and I could see how people would get tired of some of the nonsense in there.

But then there are threads like “The Beast Awakens” that are just too funny to have missed out on.

Well, you’ll occasionally see a fairly decent physique there (the 19, 6’0, 230lbs as a recent example, who actually looks like he’s been lifting for those 3 or what it was years).

Surprising that he hasn’t been flamed by the abercrombie brothers yet.

Guess there’s still hope.

I’m not saying that every post in there is a troll, there have been a number of really good discussions.

Its just the whole concept of “give my physique a rating for my fucking self confidence” is childish. Why does there have to be a rating? Why can’t it be a progress forum? Right now if you look at it, most of the people have ratings that are 2-4. What the fuck does that mean? Like the rating is going to make any fucking difference!!!

It’s not that I can block the forum or just not go to it. Look, if it werent for T-Nation I would probably still be that fat depressed college kid wishing he knew how to change his body. I just hate to see a website that has had so much to do with my fitness accomplishments stoop to such an embarassingly low level.

I feel you dude, I personally think (as has been stated by a bazillion of other posters already) that one needs to actually have a physique that looks impressive in relation to training age (like the one I mentioned before).

Just loosing fat and ending up skinny or training forever and still looking like some myspace-nerd just isn’t what belongs into that forum…
I can see the achievement in loosing a ton of fat for the first time, etc, but it’s called “RATE MY PHYSIQUE” for chrissake, not “weight watchers’ moral support”

That title should give people a hint, you’d think.

And then the morons cheer each other on and flame the people who actually accomplished something (doesn’t always happen, but it did happen plenty).

Many just have the wrong idea about the purpose of the forum…

What’s wrong with RMP?

The trolls are pretty funny, and real people get a fairly honest assessment. Overall, it’s a decent source of motivation/laughs.

Contrast that to something pathetic like bb.com, where any wanker who gains 15 pounds in three years is “a perfect 10 brah”.

hehe.
why would wanna block off a great source of fun…
outta of the few great physique, you’d get a shit loads of giggles from the sub par posting.

True enough…

turns RMP forum back on to check out recent silliness

Hellllllllll no. Then the trolls from their will flood back to the Combat Sports and Bodybuilding forum and the Bruce Lee shenanigans will begin anew!

You’ve peaked my interest now, must…check out…150lb poped collared dbags…I…cannot stop…myself.

Just my opinion here, but as stated above, there is this great ‘customize’ feature where you can get rid of all the stuff you don’t want to look at. (though I can’t for the life of me remove a lot of the female boards - must be a weird glitch).

Anyways, instead of asking this “world” to change to make things nicer for you, I would suggest not doing what the ‘real world’ does and accept that there are things you can’t change and adapt to your surroundings.

Everything is customized nowadays, and that which we can’t customize to our tastes we want to remove wholesale.

Any community is going to have its share of ‘fringe’ folks - heck, most of us ARE the fringe folks in the real world.

Rate My Physique is there, like many of these threads, to serve a purpose for those that are REALLY making progress, and maybe, just maybe, some of the yahoos that post in there and THINK they are doing so great will catch wind of a REAL physique or transformation and that will catalyze them to do something that matters.

Well that was 20 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

It’s like a particularly offensive TV show.
If you don’t like it, turn it off or watch something else. No need to petition the network to remove it.

I was under the impression that it was specifically designed to quarantine trolls, as Mak suggested above.

So it’s been incredibly effective. So effective, in fact, that you noticed.

I didn’t realize it served as such a beacon of entertainment for most of you guys . . .

Check out “The Beast Awakens” and tell me you didn’t giggle.
