I also assumed that the bodybuilding forum was a place to discuss the building of one’s body for a purpose.

It’s not. I doubt anyone cares if some guy is “building” his body so that he looks more like a woman for his school play in which he plays Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. This is a bodybuilding section of a bodybuilding web site focused on gaining more muscle and getting stronger. Why is it so hard to stay on topic in here?

Rockclimbing now falls under “bodybuilding”? There are no rockclimbing websites for you to vent on?

Nothing wrong with this post being on this website. It just shouldn’t be in this forum. I agree on that. While I don’t agree with a lot of the suggestions for new forums, I think we SHOULD have a sports and general fitness forum. A lot of opeople here would be intrested in the best way to balance goals with serious athletic pursuits or even just hobbies like this seems to be for chickenmug. Also, training suggetions for their specific sport, be it grappling, MMA, rockclimbing. Whatever.

Fuck it. We should just change the name of the forum to “I don’t want muscles but I’m afraid I might get some by accident”.

I’m tired of people clicking “BODYBUILDING” only to inform us of how they want to avoid it.

It is sad that we can’t even have this one area to discuss the basic premise of this website without interference from Smurfs.

I said it shouldn’t be in this forum…we do have a politics and off-topic forum. A general sports forum would be very appropriate
This was my exact point.

It’s true. I’ve started to realize that “bodybuilding” isn’t exactly what I’m gunning for, but I totally respect those of you who are and I’ve at least had a glimpse into how challenging it can be.

I still plan to lift weights (and go as hard as I can), but plan to incorporate cardio and sports into my fitness regime. I want to be stronger, but also be more athletic, because I like to play sports like hockey, soccer, etc.

That being said, I see this is not the place to discuss that stuff. This section should strictly be for those who want to pack on the mass.

Isn’t there a rock climbing and kickboxing site you can visit?

And btw, you shouldn’t be “afraid” of getting too big. It has been said a million times before. You won’t wake up one day and say “Oh shit, I’ve gotten too big.”

I did once, it was awesome.

Yeah but you probably weren’t functional.
That was a joke

I don’t believe in my original post i asked any questions regarding rock climbing or kickboxing. If you read all the way through the post you will notice there is a topic relating to bodybuilding at the bottom. The fact that I have reached my desired weight, and now wish to maximize my muscle mass to fat mass. This is an asthetic goal primarily, and a functional goal secondarily. Now tell me that is off topic?

To be honest I started this thread to get a rise out of people after seeing a whole bunch of threads revoling around someone with moderate body weight goals(190-220) vs, people who are after all-out-mass.

But I believe bodybuilding has a few different elements. Building muscle is only a piece of the puzzle. There is also reduction in bodyfat and making your body as asthetically pleasing as possible. Now either you accept that definition and concurrently accept that as the goal of this forum, or you claim that this is only about competition bodybuilding. In this case, very few of you have the right to post.

I lift weights, i climb, i kickbox, i hike. I compete in none of these activities. But these activities provide stress on the body, which in accordance with a reduction or oversupply of calories will change the body.

In short, I don’t think lifting weights and muscle are the only qualifications of what bodybuilding is.

PS. My post deals with issues of bodyweight, function, and aesthetics. If there was a general fitness forum i would have posted it there. However, I believe between bodybuilding and strength sports it belongs here as very little of my post has anything to do with strength whatsoever.

So was my response.

Right. And a helluva lot more legitimate in my opinion to have a new forum where we can discuss the best ways to use weight-lifting to further athletic goals than the hot-or-not forum the Rate Me section has for the most part become.

That just means that this thread doesn’t belong ANYWHERE on these forums.
