I Am Afraid of Getting Too Big

Chickenmcnug You Are Out Of Fucking Line

This is a bodybuilding website.

Don’t come on here and ask about this type of bullshit. (UNLESS YOU HAVE TITS)

How funny is it that everyone is dog cussing Chicken, yet AmandaSC has a thread on kayaking in the bodybuilding section and nobody says shit.

(Just an observation, don’t get pissy; no offense Chickenmcnug and AmandaSC)
I saw that and thought the same thing.

…Who cares?

Is there a question here??

Why did you feel the need to share this with us?
Chickenmcnug wrote:

But lets face the facts, unless you step on stage you aren’t bodybuilding either.
You’re just an idiot. You basically just said there is no such thing as recreational bodybuilding.

And btw, you shouldn’t be “afraid” of getting too big. It has been said a million times before. You won’t wake up one day and say “Oh shit, I’ve gotten too big.”

I did once, it was awesome.
Yeah but you probably weren’t functional.

hahaha you’re right…I did see it but since I have no interest in kayaking I didn’t click it. I came here because I thought I would :

a. see a really big guy and be surprised

or more likely

b. see a scrawny kid and enjoy the entertaining flamefest

I was terribly disappointed and would have even been happy with a youtube Rick Rolled by that point.

in b4 “cancer killing this site, etc”

“Strength Sports” forum didn’t seem like a better place to put a thread about, well, sports that require strength training and conditioning?

You might have actually gotten some decent advice and certainly would have gotten a better overall response had you posted this thread in the proper forum.

Extra size takes extra energy.

The focus here is bodybuilding so it’s no surprise that the advice given is to get bigger, or more cut, or whatever. Yes getting bigger is somewhat synonymous with getting stronger so you have the strength sports angle/form, but the main focus is purely aesthetics.

That’s like going to a soccer website and complaining that no one there appreciates basketball.

QFT. Yeah, this pretty much sums it up.
Exactly. Being built like Jay Cutler may not help you QB the Denver Broncos but being built like Jay Cutler might.

It’s not. I doubt anyone cares if some guy is “building” his body so that he looks more like a woman for his school play in which he plays Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. This is a bodybuilding section of a bodybuilding web site focused on gaining more muscle and getting stronger. Why is it so hard to stay on topic in here?

Rockclimbing now falls under “bodybuilding”? There are no rockclimbing websites for you to vent on?
Nothing wrong with this post being on this website. It just shouldn’t be in this forum. I agree on that. While I don’t agree with a lot of the suggestions for new forums, I think we SHOULD have a sports and general fitness forum. A lot of opeople here would be intrested in the best way to balance goals with serious athletic pursuits or even just hobbies like this seems to be for chickenmug. Also, training suggetions for their specific sport, be it grappling, MMA, rockclimbing. Whatever.

Thats right, I said it. Alright, I am taking a piss or whatever the brits say. But seriously.

I am 6’1" approx 200lbs. I think I am at the perfect weight. I know a lot of you are laughing about the skinny internet warrior. But let me explain.

I enjoy bodybuilding. I enjoy exercise and building muscle. And every now and then I wish I could bulk up more, because I would like a little more size. But recently I have gotten into rock climbing and kickboxing.

Rock climbing -

I can see where I should actually lose weight to excell. But I don’t want to be the typical skinny guy. I also see where I am having a much more difficult time than others. I can see where any more weight gain would come as a detriment. I really enjoy this activity. I love the thrill of figuring out a problem, or getting to the top. So I need a compromise.

Kickboxing -

Weight gain would help me with strength for picking people up and throwing. But increasing weight tends to decrease stamina. I am not competing as of yet, but once i get good someday I would like to try out fighting. The lower the weight I can maintain, the greater my reach comes to my advantage.

So all in all, I have come to a point where my body satisfaction and my lifestyle have come to odds. Maybe i will come back to gaining weight at some point. But for now, I am happy with the personal compromise that I have made between size and performance.

I come to T-Nation to argue with people and discuss various topics. Sometimes I get schooled. Sometimes I leave better enlightened. I just hope that the “size > all” people can respect my stance.

PS. Now I have the difficult task. Trying to maximize LBM/FM ratio per my prefered weight.
Luckily I’ve got quite a lot of experience in this area so I should be able to help you out.

It’s “Taking THE piss”.

You’re welcome.

Fuck it. We should just change the name of the forum to “I don’t want muscles but I’m afraid I might get some by accident”.

I’m tired of people clicking “BODYBUILDING” only to inform us of how they want to avoid it.

It is sad that we can’t even have this one area to discuss the basic premise of this website without interference from Smurfs.

Sack-Up or go home.

I said it shouldn’t be in this forum…we do have a politics and off-topic forum. A general sports forum would be very appropriate

rock climbing

if you want to excel at the sport, you gotta tune your body into a rock climber. strong forearms, lats, and a light nimble body.

kickboxing

a bigger guy might be slower, but will pack a heavier punch. also you become harder to maneuver.

im just saying that you cant have it all. if you wanna look huge, you train for huge. you train for performance, and thats what you’ll get… and you’re body will react in ways necessary to accommodate that.

it sounds like you have answered all your own questions, so what are you looking for exactly? if you are happy at your weight, fine. who cares?

It sounds like your not elite in either of the two sports your talking about doing. That being the case, I’m sure you have alot more skills to work on before you have to worry about bodyweight ratio’s.

I also seriuosly doubt your stamina is anywhere near Pro Kickboxing fighters, so why don’t you just worry about building your stamina.

Hold up why am I debating this, you said you want to just stay the same wieght and streamline. What are you attempting to discuss again?

This belongs in strength sports forum. Did you get kicked in the head today?
