I am Absolutly Disgusted in Myself!

too much computer for you, thats the problem XD.

If you were my friend, and you did that, I would disown you without a shadow of a doubt, being friends is a relationship like any other, if you cant stand up for each other, the relationship is worthless.

Dude you did the right thing calling the cops straight away.
When you are put in a situation like that form the first time, you NEVER react the way you thought you would or would have liked to unless you have trained espeacially for that event.
You where in shock, but you still had the sence to call for help. Good job, If there is anything you could have done better, I’m sure that if you are ever put in that situation again you will know what to do.

You’d disown a friend that got you the ambulance that prevented you from bleeding out all over some carpet? Alcohol = blood thinner, good luck clotting a blunt object wound on your head with a .1+

Dude saved 3 lives from the sound of it, 4 if you count his own.

Eh well, I do have my katana by my bed, but I have to be honest and say that it’s only there because I have a dog as an early warning system. If I didn’t I would hide it away; who wants to wake up in the night with a stranger brandishing your own weapon above your head?

And I would only use it for intimidation, IF marauders were intent on gaining access to the upper floor and my fiancee. Otherwise they can just take my TV and whatever else and leave. That shit’s insured and not worth going to prison for anyway if I stab someone over it.

IMO having a weapon is a VERY sticky wicket in these days of ‘burglars have feeling too you know’ liberal BS. There are guys on probation with me who got jumped by 3 guys, and did a bit of damage to them and are “lucky not to be behind bars, you animal” according to the judge.

Think hard before you get your katanas sent over TB. Lets say you had pulled on out (and why having it in your home if you’re not going to use it?) last night. What you gonna do (punk, lol)? You’re not going to impale someone and if you don’t look like you mean to use it, the intruders will laugh and take it off you and maybe slice you for being a c**t in their eyes.

Or say one of your flatmates knows about it and gets it and in a struggle gets killed. How would you feel then? Not good I suspect.

Anyway, my point is: Don’t get your katanas sent over. They are fu*k all use outside a dojo unless you want a lengthy prison sentence.

A very sad state indeed when more and more countries are making it criminal to defend yourself!

The ones making these selfserving descisions are protected already [they somehow have “legal” weapons or bodyguards]!

Ther’re just scared of revolution [and well should be]!!

And what a hotbutton issue too, over 100 replies in a day lol!

looking back now i have slightly calmed down i see that what i did was probably the right choice.

but it still sickens me that my first reponse was to close a door and hide from the “bullys” i think id feel better now if i had of received a few punchs or at least been involved in someway. it feels like i opened the door and a movie was playing out in front of my eyes. it still doesnt feel real and im still freaked out that that could happen.

i havnt slept yet, i did the typical irish thing of getting pisse out my tree last night and i still couldnt sleep.

ive got important exams on tuesday and thursday. tried looking at some stuff today for them and i cant even read. ive spent the day reading about MMA’s and streetfighting.

I think i want/need some skills like this.

My job is a PR, im the guy that walks about at night handing out flyers and trying to get people into my club, im actually scared of going back and doing that again. I think i need some training to restore my confidence.

I dunno what to do about my exams and my job.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. The dudes had weapons. Did you want to get bashed in the head too? Your best bet was to get a gun or a bigger pipe.

This is why I’m down for having a gun in your room stashed under your bed or in your sock drawer. Those bastards meant business.

illegal here.

And that stops you from getting them how?[/quote]

I’ve heard you can also buy a pistol for around $2,500 over there, too. The Lithuanians make them and sell them in the UK.

not interested in a knife or pistol. that is just going to make things worse.

might get one of those kuboton sticks and learn how to use it.

Yeah. Don’t beat yourself up, OP. It was your first time in a situation like that, and you didn’t know what to do, so you did nothing. Usually, that’s the best thing to do if you don’t know what to do. This kind of thing happens to everyone at some point or another.

I hate the liberal bullshit also… During school three guys were harassing me and my brother and I was gona let it go (twins in same class) we were sitting around and ignoring them (I dont like the chance of getting kicked out of school for bullshit like that) and people were getting pissed at em for bugging us…and I had enough and got up and started screaming in there faces …you wana fuck with me ect.I wanted to beat the shit out of em but controlled myself…they all ran into the corner of the room and coward like the pussies they are.My bro decided to file a harassment report… The school officer questioned me about pushing one of them…wow.

The sleeplessness, guilt and loss of confidence are all natural reactions. What you’ve got to accept is that you didn’t ‘hide’. Looking back, it might have seemed like you did but you’ve said yourself that you only stuck your head out of the door and assumed that it was only a minor disturbance.

I still say that you managed to take action under extreme pressure, and that is what counts.

Nobody can enter a confrontation and have complete control over it. Nobody can tell you how to react because everybody will react differently. I think the main issue here is that you feel guilty about the fact that your friends got physically hurt and you didn’t.

The fact that you escaped without physical injury does not mean that you deliberately avoided the confrontation. You did the best that you could under the circumstances and that’s all anybody can ask of you.

You did the right thing.
You are the only one there who was in a position to call for help, which was the rational thing to do.
Kudos to you.

You need better friends.

And spending their entire life fighting…

Self preservation is a strong instinct. The fact that you exist demonstrates your lineages success at it. Don’t feel bad that the first time you were seriously threatened you responded to that impulse. The vast majority of us are not born willing to dismiss self preservation at a whim. Armies spend a great deal of time and effort teaching people to ignore this precise instinct.

You are not trained, and I take it this is the first time you have been faced with this. You did the right thing. As one retired company commander once told me, “You don’t want the guy who has no fear. He is an idiot and will get you all killed because there are things in the life any sane person should be afraid of. The trick is learning how to perform even when you are scared to death. That is how people come home.”

I think you showed level headed thinking and did a lot more good calling the police than bleeding on the floor of a hallway with an intact ego. The main thing is that YOU didn’t cause your friends to get beat up. Four assholes did that. Don’t beat yourself up over the actions of others or a freak incident like the one you described. Most importantly, don’t spend q moment of your life seeking a way to “redeem” yourself for this incident. Honestly, did you have a hope in hell of taking four guys? I doubt it - 99 percent of all the people here probably couldn’t.

You did good…

But to look at it from another perspective:
-Say you did “stand up”. You hit the one guy who hit your mate, and then the other 3 get on you and beat your ass (maybe even kill you by beating u on the head).

Now what???.. you mates are hurt, so are you, and the 4 dudes can now take their sweat time in cleaning out all your valuables since nobody is there to call the police.

Great alternative ain’t it?

Police just came back.

the guys they picked up were let out. they all had alibis and only 2 of them fitted the description loosely.

They are back questioning all the other flats in our complex today.

They think it might be some people working in the restaurants/bars that are behind us. There is gravel in the divide between the buildings and this would have cushioned the bottle and therefore it may not have broken. So it cud be a case of mistaken identity.

…And yet most of them still can’t fight. Maybe I’ve missed the part where each baby is given a shot of Captain America’s super soldier serum at birth, so that every single male traveller grows up to be both semi-indestructable and an elite fighter.

Sorry to hear that they got released - that sucks! Hopefully it’ll only be temporary and some more evidence will come to light.

Did the police recover that bannister?

yea… it was left in our flat… they have the bannister, keyboard and bottle for prints and dna.
