Hypertrophy Specific Training

I’m not certain if this topic has been discussed on this forum before, since I have done a search and did not get any positive results.

In any event, has any one gone through the hypertrophy specific training program created by Bryan Haycock, and I mean actually gone through more than just a few workouts rather, given it at least 16 weeks or more with appropriate caloric intake and proper monitoring of strength increments etc.

If this has in fact been discussed previously would someone direct me to the appropriate page or provide a link on the topic.

I recall reading his articles on the topic years ago but never really attempted to engage in the workouts, due to my own biases on the organization of the program, however, I recently read the article again, loosely followed up on some references–well, loosely–and I have this propensity to give it a shot, however, would rather not if we can establish some form of anecdotal statistic on the validity and outcome of proper execution of the program.

“Bodybuilding” and training for “Muscle Growth” have never been discussed in the Bodybuilding Forum.

You may be breaking new ground here.

It’s kind of exciting when you think about it. This could be HUGE for the forum traffic if this gets out.

So, what is this idea of “hypertrophy” anyway?

BTW, Is it “HY-per-TRO-phy” or “hy-PER-tro-phy” or “hy-per-TRO-phy”?

You’re on a roll with your posts lately.

Fuck up lads, give the guy a chance.

In answer to the question, I have never tried the program, for these reasons, I don’t like idea of strategic deconditioning after every two weeks (that is far too often in my view) and I like to do my own thing. I do know that you hardly ever see anyone try it or indeed doing it which might tell you something.

It would help you get serious responses if people had an easy reference to what you were talking about. To answer your question, no I have never done it, and I would not do a workout like this. There are much better options for beginners.

Also, don’t forget that periods are your friend

And since I’ve already outed myself as a grammar nerd, I might as well post this too :stuck_out_tongue:

Strategic deconditioning is done every 6-8 weeks, not every 2 weeks. The theoru or science behind it is that your muscles/tendons/etc become less sensitive to the stimulus provided from strength training, so when you take some time off from the gym, you regain this sensitivity in order for gains to come faster.

Appears you are right, in my mind it was every 2 weeks, turns out that is the mini-cycle part. I still don’t like the idea of strategic deconditioning though, never have, that’s why I have always opted for a deload instead.
