Hypertrophy (Research)

Some researches have showed that resistance training, makes a lower expression of myostatin (negative regulator for the muscular growth). This low of myostatin _expression with resistance training can be one of the factors that make a Hypertrophy occurs (Walker et. al, 2004).

so you’re saying that resistance training induces muscle growth?

Thats very interesting, im very interested in the role that genetics plays in hypertrophy and strngth development. Have you a copy of the article?

Just thinking off the top of my head,

Research shows that there is little hypertrophy during the first 6 weeks of training (untrained subject) and most of the increases in strength are related to neural factors. I’m just wondering if myostsin would play more of a role in inhibiting gains after a longer period of training and therefore a supplement like Myostat (i think that is what its called, the one available on this website) would be more beneficial to more experinced trainees.

I would also like to know if anyone currently uses Myostat. There seemed to be alot of hype when it first came out, but it seesm to have died down.

I heard about some kid born in Germany who apparently doesn’t have the myostatin gene, so he’s a ripped little kid. Talk about genetics!

Here’s a link to an article on that German kid:

I remember a year ago a researcher was on the forums in here and he was talking about his work down in Texas. Apparently he does genetic studies on pro athletes, pro bodybuilders included. He mentioned that alot have genetic mutations of some degree and/or a revved up endocrine system. One pro bodybuilder (cant remember name) had excessively low levels of myostatin. BTW, I have done two three month cycles of Myostat. Both were during bulking diets with pro-hormone usage. Honestly, I don’t think the Myostat helped at all. It’s a great idea, but I was dissapointed with the results. When I hit the lottery though I plan on runnin’ that shit for a year srtaight!
