My vote is Testosterone, also. Thank you for asking our opinion on the matter.

One of the things that have allowed this site to survive as long as it has is the willingness (and business insight) of Tim and TC and adjust and adapt.
I’ll say it a million times…if you don’t adjust and adapt in this business you won’t be around for long.
Do may of you guys actually think that the two of them sit around and say:
“Ummmm…let me see who I can insult and piss off…because I just LOVE to hear people write on a Website I spend millions of dollars on a year what a SHITTY job I’m doing?” OR
Like any business person trying to survive, are they trying their best to respond to a marketplace that changes faster that pork futures?
I think that all of you could help the guys the most by offering some constructive ideas; and not get pissed and run off with your toys because the marketplace ( not necessarily Tim and TC) does not, and has not, responded to those ideas.
Here’s my two cents for “MWA” that I THINK (not KNOW) would work as some viable Forums that would incorporate the spectrum of Strength, Sports and Competition:
Training Logs
Contest Preparation
Female Health
Supplements, Diets and Nutrition
Sports, Strength and the Active Female
Sex, Rock and Roll and Other Chick Stuff
Am I completely happy with every change that has been made?
No…as a matter of fact, a couple of recent issues had me questioning my continued involvement on the Site…
But guess what?
Despite whatever ideas I may have, other than some supplement purchases, I’m not putting my money, ass and livelihood on the line to keep this thing going…

One also has to decide what it is that drives them in their business endeavors. Do they want to stay loyal to long time customers, providing top notch customer service, serving a niche market, and probably not showing the highest amounts of profit? Or do they want to go wherever the mainstream market goes in order to cash in on the latest fads; maximizing profit yet abandoning the most loyal customers? Biotest is obviously choosing the latter.

Good Lord, not this crap again.
We haven’t changed a damn thing.
Look at the articles from our first two or three or four or five years–they pale in comparison to the stuff we’ve done in the last two years.
Mainstream market my ass.
You sir, have pissed me off.
If we were truly interested in the mainstream, you’d really see a vanilla site: no mention of steroids, no strong language, no brutal training regimens; only tributes to kettlebells, Swiss Balls, and core training.
Have you ever wondered why, like what happened to EAS, no big conglomerate has offered to buy us? It’s because we make stuff that scares the shit out of parents. It’s because we AREN’T mainstream.
We make many products that have extremely thin margins, so thin that no other company would bother making them, yet you accuse us of going after the highest amount of profit.
Go lift something.
It’s really cool that you responded to the ladies TC.
Keep em happy man. They’ve been here for ages and are all a real asset to the site.
It’s just 1 forum they’re after.

WTF? No place for the women to congregrate? Are they such soft pansies that they can’t hang out where ever they want? Why can’t they hang out on any thread on T-Nation that they want and who says they have to congregate only on MWA? So far I haven’t seen any signs that say “No females allowed” on this site.
Sic, Jilly, YoMama, etc. if you don’t like fake tans and big boobs (that were already pointed out to be a big part of bodybuilding, like it or not) then quit whining and start threads you want to discuss on T-Nation. You just sound whimpier than the fake tan, big boobed, skinny chicks with all the whining you do about things not being what they used to be.[/quote]
I have nothing useful to say except your a bitch and go fuck yourself.
Edit
I must apologize, there was no need for that comment.

Without a doubt, there are still excellent articles that show up here. My point about the articles was that the focus seems to be on quantity and not quality. I’m not trying to insult anybody, this is just something I have noticed. How much do you lift? and T-man at the Movies don’t quite compare to a Dave Tate, Charles Staley, or John Berardi article.
As for the “hardcoreness” of the site, the steroid commentary doesn’t seem to be as good without Cy Willson, but that is actually not an issue for me personally, so I won’t comment further. Also, frankly, I could do without the foul language. One could easily get into a discussion as to whether or not this type of language IS mainstream.
As for profit margins, if your margin is 40% less than what it used to be, but you sell twice as many products, profict has increased, no? So, therefore, simply pointing out your low margins does nothing to support an argument. I digress, as I tried to mention earlier, I don’t have any idea what Biotest’s financial statements look like, so I will not argue profit.

Dude, you are in the wrong place and are spewing some stupid shit.
You have no idea what you are talking about, if you are not pleased with the product here…go away.
Quickly.
I was responding to a post that TC directed towards me, was there a better place for me to post this?
I don’t think there is anything wrong with voicing complaints about a company, directly to the company. It is a dangerous thing when one commits blind devotion toward another and loses their own thoughts and values. There is nothing wrong with endorsing a company and agreeing with them, just make sure you have come to agreement through your own thought process and not simply by what someone has told you.
Also, I find it unlikely that Biotest wants customers and supporters that are unhappy to simply go away.

A level ‘Zero’, ZIP, ZILTCH… complaining about the site which is run and financed by a company he does not support, yet is not happy with their free offering.
Ted, when people bitch about politics, but don’t vote during elections, have no basis to complain about who’s elected and in office or what is happening because they are in office.
Your critisism of the site is comparable to the forementioned.
T-Nation is HARDLY mainstream. Keep it up guys.
This site is what you make it, bottom line.

Because T-Nation is the only place to buy Biotest supplements…
I’m not going to lie, I have spent less than $50 on Biotest products, but I have also recommended their products to many others.
One other thing to remember, the message boards are a form of advertising for the company. So in exchange for the fourums and bandwith, posters are providing a service to Biotest with the advice, commentary, and entertainment that they post. So don’t look at it as if it is completely one sided.

Valid points. Let’s remember though we are also their guests here.
On a positive note, the figure competitors today look like they lift.

I’m a level 4 Biotest ho. That means I’ve spent a whole lot more on their products than I have on other brands. I like what they offer and I understand the need to generate more revenue.
I just don’t like being told, “You’re a woman. T-Nation is not about women, it is about Testosterone. Therefore you have to accept what we give you and like it, bitch.” Ok, I paraphrased.
I just think that if you can have separate Bodybuilding and Strength Sports forums for the guys, you can offer the same diversity for women.
As to the articles getting crappy comment… They aren’t getting dumber, we’re getting smarter. At some point you don’t need to hear all that basic nutrition/basic lifting stuff anymore. You know a whole lot about your training and nutrition and you know what does and doesn’t work for you.
Well the site needs to keep catering towards newbs who don’t know. Otherwise those people will leave if they don’t see progress. We were all newbs once and were all enthralled by what we read.
You should take your response to the current articles as a proud acknowledgement of just how much you’ve learned over the past few years.

Actually, I suppose you could say I am anti-supplements almost altogether. I think the benefits rarely out weigh the costs, but of course that will vary by individual. The only ones I regularly take are protein, creatine, and fish oil. I have had good experiences with GNC’s creatine and recently picked up 1000g for $20. Before you make fun of GNC, I want to point out that Chris Shugart once said long ago that that was the brand of creatine he uses, too. As for the fish oil, Flameout seems priced reasonably, just like Biotest’s creatine, but when you throw in shipping you can’t beat the buy one get one free deals that Walgreens regularly has.
I was one of the ones that requested a premium protein, and Biotest came through. The problem is that it is still not what I want, so I refuse to buy it. Would it be that difficult for them to throw in a little cocoa?

These are also good points and you make a reasonable arguement, but I still stand by my original quantity vs. quality statement.

Nothing a pair of scissors can’t fix.
The SAMA forum is getting the same way. It used to be we talked mostly of sticking it in her pooper and looking at pics of tits and ass. Now, we’re debating the place of men and women in society. I want the football locker room talk, not the cheerleading locker room where boys (literally, <18 boys) come together to ask about getting over their gf of 2 weeks breaking up with them or talking about how to have sex for the first time.

Well, take heart, DB. There are still some of us that still talk about sticking it in her pooper and other places and look at tits and ass and comment on sticking it in their pooper. Some of us don’t change.

There’s a huge difference between perception and reality…
