Well the crew is alive and well although a bit banged up. Art you are a stud end of story, nothing else need be said. Training with Jimmy T is a blast and a life long friendship has developed. Jimmy T and Galaxie63 feed me like I’m a czar(that’s a joke,63). HT don’t know what to say or do. Feel for you and I hope the homelife is Great. Thanks for the kind words. Kind of a deload week this week. I fell off the wagon yesterday.

We are gonna start training on a 3 day a week cycle on monday.Bench on monday-squat on tuesday-deads every other week on thursday. It will take some time to see how it works but thats the fun part to training!All is well down here in texas, hope the crew is well and a great week to all.

nothing to report on my lifting, just a bunch of machines and db for high reps whatever works without pain, only thing to report is a 5x10x350lbs off parallel box squat, and deadlift 485x5, double overhand grip since the bicpes wont take the mixed grip yet.

Seems like we just get over one thing and then something else breaks down eh, Mike? I’m only doing light stuff now as well. Had the Doc look at the shoulder and all he wanted to do was hit it with Cortisone. Felt better for about a month…

Mike, Colin & me sound like we should be the 3 musketeers as far as the yo-yoing between being somewhat healthy & injured! I can’t remember what is felt like to have no pain anywhere, but it must have felt grand at the time! I wish I could get even close to that now…seems like pain, & if not pain, aches/soreness, are a function of everyday life for me presently. I try to tell people what it’s like, & they have no clue…only you guys would know.

thats the problem with corticosteroids colin, they work only as long as you are taking them. mirtha has had a BAD chronic neck problem for years now, getting progressively worse, and she took a month long course of prednisone, felt a lot better, but got worse again once she stopped. and the side effects of long term corticosteroids are horrible.

yesterday, parallel box squat, moderate-wide stance, 190kgx3 finished with some very light goodmorinings and front squats for 10-20 rep sets.

can I ask what you people do for recovery?
Im pretty banged up, not as much as you folk
foam, epsom salt baths, ice showers seem to be helping
allot.

Mike - looks like your box squat still agrees with your body a little bit.
kmcnyc - I’m certainly not the only show in town when it comes to recovery aid use, but over the years I have tried most of what was “popular” at the time, we’re talking 30+ years worth!

Presently, my recovery regimen looks like this:
Nutrition/Supplements - Creatine(2.5 gr/day); L–Glutamine(before;during; after workout); Fish Oil capsules(3-4 gr/day); Whey/Casein shake pre-breakfast and pre/during/after workout; Casein shake prior to bed
DMSO when “hurt” or injured combined with oral OTC (2)aspirin(500mgs) or OTC (4)ibuprofen(800mgs)
Ice massage; A.R.T.; Electroaccupuncture & T.E.N.S.
Ice bath(50-65degrees F); Epsom salt warm bath contrast starting and ending with the ice bath
PVC tube - I roll over the sore spots on my body; tried foam roll but didn’t seem to be as effective a self-massage as the hard tube was

The other thing I try to do is use a broomstick the day after my workouts to mimic the movement to try and “flush” nutrient-containing blood into the area & “push” toxins & metabolic “wastes” out. I perform a couple of hundred reps over the course of 15-20 minutes using the broomstick. It seems to have helped me recover faster as my soreness doesn’t typically last as long as when I don’t do them.

This pretty much sums up what I do presently; these, either individually or in combos, may not help you at all or to the extent they do for me but it couldn’t hurt to try & see what works for you!

So what’s the answer? Guess I should do the MRI and let them cut on me if I want to be able to go heavy ever again. Not sure if it’s worth it at this point, I am kinda trying to get comfortable with the idea of alternate training but not going all out is like kissing my sister, no excitement to it, well not for me anyway!

People have no clue what they are talking about and they just want to strike up a conversation so I’m sure he thought it sounded good before he said it. I think the worst is being asked “Are you still going to the gym?” That one always pisses me off!

If someone disagrees with your knee wraps the hell with them. I wear a belt for all my working sets. Someone doesn’t like it they can pound sand.

Tonight shoulders, I’m so weak on shoulders won’t post numbers. Also core stuff. 3 sets of back extentions of 25 felt like a car ran over me. After that ab roller was really tough. situps and planks let me know my core needs help. Going to do a like workout once a week until I don’t feel like I do right now. Embarassed!!!

yesterday was a squat day, wanted 200kg for at least a single, but my knee said no.

so i did 2x10x170kg parallel box squat

then 5x10 up to 10 plates on the power squat machine,

then 3x20x135 goodmornings supersetted with abds

finished with tabata on airdyne bike.
