I have been doing cycles of HST-Hypertrophy-Specific Training about four so far. I have been seeing some gains in everything…been eating really well also. The only supplements i take is multi-vitamin, fish oil, and protein.
I want to see more results in muscle gain, should i stick with HST or switch to another program? For those who have tried HST, it just seems too simple for me. Has anyone else tried it out there? What programs work best for putting on muscle?
It’s working just doesn’t seem like i am seeing the results i should be seeing by now. Also compared to others who begin it. I am doing everything right in my mind, just wondering if there is something out i should know about HST or another program that would fit me better. Maybe I just don’t have the natural athletic build like others. Any other HST lifters out there?
I’d like to echo Scott’s diet sentiment and just add; what are your gains like? Most of the time people seeing gains that aren’t just fast enough, well we all understand where you’re coming from but really you have to put in the time and be consistent to achieve great results.

Warning i’m going to be blunt: No one gains as fast as they would like, they can never be satisfied b/c one would always love to have it faster. get over it.
Never said i want to see them faster, It seems like i am behind with all i am doing correctly. Nothing is really showing for it. I am eating left and right just shoving food down my throat. I rest, and follow the HST program like they said. yes i am gaining weight, i’ve done my four cycle in the past year.
My freshman year in college i was 149, It’s my senior year and i am 178. I’ve made results since then, just haven’t seen noticeable results with HST like others have. I am eating 3500-4000 calories a day. I am still gaining weight here and there, just doesn’t seem like HST program is making my muscles stand out i guess you can say, not rip but make them noticeable.

If your lifts are still going up and you are still gaining weight, then the program is still producing results.
If you really want to switch because you don’t enjoy the program, or it conflicts with your schedule, or some other legitimate reason, then switch to another program. But, don’t be too too surprised if the new program doesn’t produce magical results either.
I think you need to come to grips with the fact that this is a lifestyle. It’ll probably take you 5+ years before you’ve really got something to show for your hard work (if you do everything right). You also need to realize that you might not have the same genetic make-up for gaining muscle as some of the others doing HST. We all grow at different rates, the sooner you get to know your own body and how it adapts the better.
Also, while 3500-4000 calories might seem like a lot, you might need even more. I need more than that to grow. Try eating 4000-4500 calories a day and see if that doesn’t help.
Finally, how much have the following lifts improved (how much more weight are you currently using) from this time last year?
Squat-
Deadlift-
Bench-
Row-
Military (shoulder) press-
Chin-up/pull-up-
curl (which ever variation you’re using)-
Dips/close grip (what ever is your main triceps exercise)-
If they haven’t increased significantly, then there’s another reason why you might not be seeing the kinds of results you’re looking for.
