hey all, ive been training for about 5 years now, and i was wondering if there is a quick way to tell if ive gained muscle or fat.
Just hit 240lbs in weight and i cant tell if i got bigger and my waist is the same as it was at 210
help?
If your waist is the same size, it’s a safe bet that most of the gain was muscle.
Yup. However, If you want to be on the safe side, take a few waist measurements - navel & an inch below, for instance. Also measure your shoulder & thigh circumference - If these go up it’s a safe bet you gained muscle.
Perhaps you have gained both in certain proportions, such that it hasn’t changed your body shape significantly. Think about it, if you gained a lot of muscle or put on 30lbs of fat you wouldnt need to post this thread.
Without being rigorous, take a look at your legs. Maybe it is because of my genetics, but my legs grow fucking fast and I always notice a change in their shape when I have gotten stronger. My chest gets big too pretty easily, but I have more fat there so it is harder to tell. If I remember correctly your legs are one of the leanest part of your body.
You can also tell if you have gained weight by looking at your chin fat lol.
Yes Chin fat is a killer!
