'How to Squat' Tutorial and Information Video

Hey guys,

I made an informative/tutorial video about the squat. Please let me know what you think. What did you like or dislike? Did you find it captivating or super boring? Was it helpful or informative at all? Any feedback I get will help me with future videos that I make. It runs kind of long so if you want to see a breakdown of what’s what check out the description on YouTube. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoy it.

Upload it to YouTube can’t see it.

It’s on YouTube. I’ll repost the link here, if you can’t see it let me know and I’ll try to PM it to you.

my main criticism would be that you recommend a hybrid style squat but never demonstrate or explain exactly how a hybrid style would look compared to high bar and low bar

That’s a valid point. What I was kind of hinting at in the video though is that a hybrid style is going to be different from person to person depending on body type, strengths/weaknesses, etc. So we can demonstrate the “pure” styles and describe how a “hybrid” style would be different, but it’s on the individual to tinker with the nuances and find their own style based on body type, strengths, and goals.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

My humble opinion only.

  1. The title is too generic. Need a more interesting title to capture the interest of potential viewers.

  2. Would have liked to see more actual demonstrations of squat technique with the addition of certain points such as mental cues, getting tight under the bar, activation of muscles, breathing etc.

I enjoy the fact that you seem very open minded, alluding to your emphasis on ‘finding your own style’.
However, that’s also gonna be my criticism. Although people with squatting experience will know what you mean by finding ‘your own style’, I can see how that can confuse a beginner as well.

Thanks for the input bro. In regard to point 2, those are good suggestions. I almost feel like each of those talking points is in depth enough and important enough to get its own shorter video. Which is something I’ll definitely consider doing. Or maybe like an all encompassing video on setting up for a big squat?

Sure, this can be like an introduction to a series of videos. In that case I would suggest making it shorter and cutting out some stuff or condensing some.

For example, if your target audience are beginners to early intermediates, describing the suited squat might be a little redundant. I would rather see a brief description of the raw low bar squat.

You should also add in some brief clips of yourself squatting heavy to peak interest and achieve credibility. You have some nice numbers man. Flaunt them lol.

I may have gone a little too deep into the backstory of things, but I felt like it was pertinent haha. I know what you’re saying though. I’m still figuring things out.

More action and less talking also seems to be somewhat the consensus.
