"How to Really Train Your Forearms", Homemade Thor's Hammer

Good article. I had a thors hammer device, but didn’t like how quickly it deloaded at the top. I built an alternative with a camber that will keep quite a bit more tension at the top of the movement.

10-12" piece of 1" threaded pipe with a dirt bike handle bar grip for a handle. screw on a 45 deg elbow and another short piece of 1" threaded pipe. Throw in some old 1" hole plates and a collar I had laying around and you have a really cheap tool.

You obviously wouldn’t go directly from pronation to supination in the same rep. You would do sets of each, starting with the camber facing down.

Wow that’s awesome! Good work.

Bite the bullet and pick up IronMind’s Heavy Hammer II. Considering you’ll essentially use it every three days, it’s well worth the investment. I especially like the knurled two inch diameter handle.

Thib, from your perspective, how important is frequently training ulnar and radial deviation for grip strength and balanced forearm development? Is it something that strength athletes would benefit from or is this an area best relegated to grip specialists?
