How to Get More Out of a Shirt

I recently read an article on how to get the most of out METAL gear on EFS.com, my question to you all, is how what do you do to get more out of your gear, be it at the top, more pop, or to touch easier.

I have a Single Ply Titan F6 with a new design I made- I cut the back open.

I am able to just touch with 315, but my lockout is slower than it should be, and it seems like it could be just the angle of the sleeve. Anyone have this similar problem? what to do to fix it??

How tight are the sleeves? They have to be super tight to get support all the way to lockout. We usually have them taken in every 3-5 times the shirt is worn. You definitely want to find someone local that can do it. It’s just a straight seem with upholstry thread. Most of us have shirts where on the inside you can see the sleeves have been taken in a few times.

I agree with this, although I don’t get my sleeves altered that frequently. Tight sleeves plus a lot of top end work and I get about 110 pounds out of my single ply Katana (405 touch and go, 515 paused in the shirt).

get stronger raw

My sleeves and shirt altogether are pretty tight, Its a 44, and when I bought the shirt my chest was a 44, and now its around 45-46 my arms have also grown.

How much fabric do you get taken off of the sleeves? I’ve been thinking about getting the sleeves on my SK taken in, but I don’t know what would be enough or too much.

Put the shirt on ‘palms up’ that way the chest plate will tighten when you hold your arms back normal. This will help you sail into lockout. Another thing your probably already doing but I’ll mention anyways is take a HUGE breath and hold it. Make your chest as big as possible so that the chest plate is tight as F**K, again helping you to sail into lock out.

On lock out speed…are you staying in the groove of the shirt? If I drift out of my Katanas groove my lock out “is all me” I hope that made sense?? Shirt training is fun but frustrating half the time…

We usually go in 1/2" increments. Sometimes just a 1/4" if it’s closer to a meet. It’s amazing how much sleeves stretch.

I’m definitely going to try that, and no its hard for me to get out of my groove, that F6 is very easy

My training partner and also my GF wear F6’s I don’t have an arch so I wear a SS Katana. I usually do the shirts and I turn the sleeves away from the body and have had good results.

You can keep the armpit a little low. This will cause the shoulder seam to catch the back of your tri’s, goving a lot more pop off the chest. While this trick can make a stiff 2-ply shirt almost impossible to touch in, I have seen it work pretty well for single plys that are less than optimumly fitted.

If you are looking at getting your shit taken in, you can always bring it to a shoe repair shop, just make sure you tell them to use their strongest thread and to double stitch it.

You should try to incorporate some raw 3, 4, and 5-board benching with bands and chains, to help increase your lockout strength and speed.
