I’m currently running the Triumvirate template from the base 5/3/1 book. So far I’m digging the protocol. How often should you change up the assistance work? I’m thinking to run this setup for 2 to 3 cycles, then assess weaknesses and adjust as needed. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
The purpose of assistance work is simply to build muscle. Ultimately, it’s up to the user to determine where they need to add that muscle, and then go from there. If in doubt, if you go stale on a movement, you can change it then. Otherwise, you could NEVER change the assistance work and be fine, so long as you’re meeting your goals.
I’m lazy. I like dips and chins because I don’t have to f**k around with dumbbells that way.
