Some people say there is no difference between men and women, that it is just societal pressures making us behave in certain ways. Personally, this study, where they put men and women in a room by themselves for 15 minutes with a button they knew would shock them if they pressed it best sums everything up - even with the 20-30% overlap in behaviour:

The work by Kübler is with regard to implementing quotas in university admissions. Not whether they are good or bad but, comparing methods of implementation.

The quotas will not hurt the non-quota groups because they are actually qualified. They will “land on their feet”

Many who gain admission due to AA, quotas etc. hurt themselves, the schools, and ultimately society. Thomas Sowell has written about this as well as spoken about it on many podcasts.

Very true. However, in some places (ie China) or industries (finance :roll_eyes: ) apparently the “name” matters for getting in.

If she’s an academic, by definition her perspective will be through the lens of her academic bias, and her criteria will be limited in scope by necessity as well as bias. Since you placed quote marks around real world, I will assume you know this already.

I’ll agree with this. I’ll even go on to add that women in general prefer more micromanaging than men IME as an employer.

BUT as an employer, I’d probably not want to let you let someone go without sufficient proof of his/her incompetence and/or which areas he/she has displayed it. The factors behind these pertain to employment laws and a more formal management structure, hence there are certain SOPs to follow for this. I don’t know if your’s are excessive or not.

There’s nothing wrong with this at all. I don’t think even most women would disagree.

It’s just that some fuckheads purposefully misinterpret the concept of “toxic masculinity” for political purposes or to gain a following from a certain audience for personal financial gain. Or they’re just insane.

Something I noticed from 2 separate predominantly ethnically Chinese societies. In China, I have to dress up and wear all my branded shit when I go to nice restaurants or the staff there will give me an attitude. Back home, I can go chill at a 5 star hotel lounge dressed like a bum and no one gives a fuck.

Granted, society’s changed a bit in China nowadays, but this was the norm just several years ago.

HOWEVER, the name of your university is VERY FUCKING IMPORTANT almost everywhere in Asia because the HR departments in most companies normally have very strict SOPs. Even the government sends their top scholars, whom they’re grooming for high posts, overseas to places like Stanford or Oxford.

It’s still like that in the cities.

One of my dad’s business partner is incredibly rich, but has a “country bum” look about him. No joke- the guy makes a 10,000 RMB suit look like a 120RMB knockoff.
Anyways, He went to go buy a mercedes and squatted outside to take a smoke. The doorman thought he was a delivery guy. He got pissed and headed off to the BMW dealer and drove home with an i8 :joy:

My mom, who for all intents and purposes, is not materialistic, got peer pressured into buying brand name bags so she wouldn’t embarrass herself when hanging out with her girlfriends
