hey, regarding this; i recently switch from bodyweight pullups in the mid teens (i’m unashamed scrawn) to wearing one of these: http://www.fitstream.com/en/gb/fitness-equipment/10kg-weighted-vest-p110

…in terms of general fitness; is it better to do lots of bodyweight or fewer weighted?

I have a question about pullups. The two most sore muscles after doing tons of pullups are my biceps and my forearms. I’m not sure I’m activating my back that much. Same think happens on pulldowns. Any suggestions?

Also, as I gain weight on my bulk, the number of pullups decrease week to week, so it’s hard to assess progress.

Straps and/or use a false grip. Wrapping your thumb around the bar (this goes for pulldowns, too) tends to recruit the muscles in your arms to a greater extent. If you have a false grip I think it’s easier to envision your arms as mere hooks.

At one point banged out 20 with 80% ROM. I stopped with the high rep pulls ups because my bicep tendons just can’t take it to that extreme without getting inflammed. Generally just do 5 x 5 on it when I do, but from a dead hang on my first set 10 is about all I can manage.

I can crank out about 10 and then I started running on fumes
