Currently I am getting about 200 grams of protein per day and am consuming 2 protein drinks per day which, with milk, gives me about 42 grams of protein per drink. However, if i were to up my protein intake to 300 grams per day, how much of this should necessarily be from food? Would it be permissible to consume 3 or 4 protein drinks a day, or would this be a waste?
I would just drink a gallon of milk each day if I were you. 125g of protien right there. Then just eat your normal meals. If you have whey, have a shake post workout. If you have casein, drink a shake before bed. No need to be drinking a bunch of shakes EVERY day.

Thats a good idea…i never thought about just downing the milk…but what kind of milk though? whole milk? or would that be too much fat…

Fat in and of itself isn’t bad for you. Too much of anything however is. Also, it depends on how much fat you’re consuming apart from the milk, although in my opinion more (good) fat is generally good.
I think your shake consumption is fine…Think of the V-Diet…it’s only shakes. One thing though make sure you work up to drinking a gllon of milk/day! Your body wasn’t made to be able to do that. Whole food is way better because that’s what our bodies have been accustom to for generations, however, Im sure a few shakes a day wont hurt! Just make them slow digesting by throwing in some flax (fiber) or peanut butter or EVOO (fats). Unless of course it’s PWO time then you want your Surge/ whatever your fast acting protein supplement is

Does it matter where you actually get your protein from, or is protein protein either way? is it actually better to get protein from whole food rather than milk?

I drink as many protein shakes as needed to get 350gs of protein in a day. I always drink whey around workouts and a Metabolic Drive when I wake up and before I go to sleep. I try to get the rest in by food if I can but sometimes schedule is too hectic.
Basicly, I try to only get in 2 a day or 3 on workout days.

350 grams of protein per day? how many grams are in each of scoop of your protein powder?

Expensive, and not convenient to get 300g protein all from food, especially if you’re busy. Also shakes can help get protein up without havign a drastic effect on calories.

What I was getting at is that most people wanna jump the gun and add shakes and they aren’t even pounding down enough food from the get go.
