How Many Meals?

I read an interview an here called:“Evolutionary Fitness
An Interview with Art De Vany, Ph.D.” and it stated that eating 6-7 small meals a day is not good, is this true? if so what would be better?

Is this from the episode where George did everything the opposite?

If so, the opposite might be to eat zero meals per day. It worked for Costanza, so it might just work for you.

“Why did it all turn out like this for me? I had so much promise. I was personable. I was bright. Oh, maybe not academically speaking, but I was perceptive. I always know when someone’s uncomfortable at a party. It all became very clear to me sitting out there today, that every decision I’ve ever made in my entire life has been wrong. My life is the complete opposite of everything I want it to be. Every instinct I have in every aspect of life, be it something to wear, something to eat… It’s often wrong.”

  • George, in “The Opposite”

i base my life on big breakfast big lunch big dinner(early before 7:00p.m.) and a snack between breakfast a snack betweeen lunch and a snack before bed. that equals out to 6 times a day and i sometimes wake up at night and eat something just to make sure im not fasting through the night.

I enjoy the constant feedings.

Not good for what? It’s been working for me staying ripped for years, and now it’s working for my bulking cycle. Seems good to me. Hell, sometimes I eat 8 meals(O-M-G).

I’d like to see the guy’s argument for eating six to seven small meals being bad. Personally, I just don’t see this holding water.

He made some claims that it’s actually beneficial to be catabolic. He said it’s unhealthy to be ‘anabolic’ all the time.

PhD or not, I think he’s full of crap. I’ve been both catabolic and anabolic. I prefer the effects of anabolism, thanks…

and his findings are based on what?

It varies from day to day and how many times I drag my ass to fast food, hahaha.

Anabolic body for the win.

I would say 8 to 100 would be better

Don’t believe everything you read my friend.

The article stated among other things that constant feedings keep insulin levels elevated, and he concluded that that was a bad thing…I think he said something about diabetes or constant sugar in the blood. Read that article along time ago, so I’m not sure. Hope that helps some. I eat 5-6 meals a day btw.

well sonny boy, that depends on what youre trying to do now doesnt it?

if you are trying to cut, eat 0. if youre trying to bulk, eat 20. hmmm, yes those would be better.

Even if half or more of those meals are protien+fat meals?

I really can’t say cause I don’t remember, but he may have said something like ‘even protein causes some rise in insulin levels’ or something like that. Do a search you should be able to find the article. It’s one of those that contradicts everything else you read, yknow? BUt I like having those around here, it gives you a different angle, even if you don’t buy into it.

Part of the premise of frequent feedings is to keep blood sugar levels stable and to prevent spiked levels. This stability leads to more consistent energy levels and lowers levels of adiposity, it’s a win-win situation. Unless you hate eating.
