*How low to go With Sodium Intake WHile Leaning out?*

Can anyone tell me how low to keep my sodium while leaning out? Should it be under 1000mlg? Thanks…J

jrocks: Interestingly enough…a lot of the natural guys say you shouldn’t limit at all until the last week of a leaning phase. They reccommend liberally salting all your meals AND drinking large amouts (1-2 gallons/day) of water. That way, your kidneys become EXTEMELY efficient at ridding the body of water and sodium nnd the body functions more efficiently with more-than-adequate amounts of sodium and water. Then…that last week, you begin to limit both sodium and water slowly but dramatically to the point that you are consuming minimal amounts of sodium. The kidneys, still operating at “max efficency”, will (in theory) continue to function as if they are processing much larger amounts of sodium and water, thus becoming the body’s “natural dieuresis machine”.

No. I’d keep it at least 2 grams per day.
Sodium, contrary to the opinion of many,
is not your enemy. It’s change in sodium
that can cause changes in water retention.
For a contest there can be manipulations that
will help you, which I’m not an expert in,
but for dieting, absolutely not, there is
no reason to go for low sodium. It can
only impede your progress.

By the way, those relying heavily on MRP’s
and following a bb’ing type diet often do
allow their sodium to drop too low, and
sometimes (worse yet) allow their potassium
to drop too low. These are things you should
check when following a non-traditional diet.

do not restrict sodium intake at all during your diet. there is no point. it doenst speed up fat loss and will hamper performance due to decreased blood volume.
