How Long Is Your Commute?

Anywhere from 1.5-3 hours daily(work).

Traffic in Chicago is the worst ever.

I wonder if satellite radio is worth the money.

You?
If you are a football or sports fan Sirius is worth every penny.

It’s worth the money if you like music as well, and if you dont like music i question your humanity.

I like music, but I cant get off of listening to NFL on there. I am sitting here typing and listening to it online. Besides the commercials it rocks. But I have it timed now when it goes to commercials flip to music and then back.

12 miles, 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Maybe some educational audio would be a good investment…honestly never considered that before.

Cool! I know both very well

What do you do in “the meat business”? My father and grandfather owned an Italian meat market and were both meat cutters.

Leave me alone I can’t help it.

Currently a meat dept. manager for the largest supermarket chain here in the northeast.

A meat cutter as well by trade but now hold position in meat management/merchandising.

I spent considerable time and effort a few years back looking to open my own business but abandoned the mission. Was gonna call it Oliveri Butcherie named after my grandparents home town of Oliveri Sicily.

Thank goodness my commute is pretty quick. I can’t stand traffic and am just too impatient.

2.5 miles or 45 - 60 minutes on a bus.
I’ve gotten to the point that I despise the bus. People are always rude, the bus is always crowded and I can’t really do any reading to help pass the time because I get nauseous with the way the drivers drive.

What am I listening to to/from work? Just radio usually, or nothing. Sometimes I’ll use the time to make a call to family.

In December my commute was 30 miles each way so about an hour to an hour and half depending on traffic. Sometimes 2 hours each way.

Now my commute is about 10 minutes total…I’d take a 30% pay cut to keep the 7 minute commute, no joke. It’s unbelievable how much better I feel on a day to day basis just from this one change.
I seriously understand that.

To those who do happen to be stuck with 20 to 30 minute commutes, though, I HIGHLY recommend taking that time and using it to further your education. Listen to self-improvement or educational audio on your way to and from work, every day, every time you go to work. Think about it: 20 minutes, twice a day, adds up to 160 extra hours of education a year! That’s really insane if you think about it. You take the time that most people just waste listening to music or talk radio, and you learn a new language, advance your knowledge in your field, learn how to sell, market or promote your service, product, or self, or just get smarter.

I started doing this years ago and I cannot, I REALLY cannot recommend this highly enough. Anyone who is not doing this is making an egregious misappropriation of the precious little time we have on this earth to improve his life. Plus, once you get started it’s really fun.
Are you a Zig Ziglar fan? He was big on that.
Automobile University? You betcha.

I second this. And recommend alot of the stuff from the Napolean Hill foundation. Pretty well priced and a ton of content. Just abaout any book you can think of can be bought on audio.
Absolutely.

Lived on East Meadow for almost 4 years myself, a nice town. My commute then was to Melville each day, took maybe 25 minutes, Wantagh to Northern State, to the LIE. If it snowed over 3", I stayed home.

Now my commute is 10-12 minutes, jump on the Southern State and I’m there. I leave early so traffic is light, hit that after 7 and it turns into a parking lot.

7.2km bike ride one way weather permitting. If the weather is bad, its a 20 minute bus ride.

I’m about 45 minutes each way, although it varies a bit due to being on public transit. That is really about the outside limit of what I would do. I read while on the streetcar, so I’m gaining something out of it, but it really does take up a lot of time.
