Anywhere from 1.5-3 hours daily(work).
Traffic in Chicago is the worst ever.
I wonder if satellite radio is worth the money.
You?
4 minutes each way.

I had a 45-70 minute (each way) commute for 7 years. Moved to within 300 meters of the hospital i study at a year ago and it’s the best thing I ever did.
Didn’t mind that much at the time (got a lot of studying done on the subway and or bus), but I really appreciate not having to do it any more.
Mine was about 35-40 min. each way, about 26 miles, but it was a no traffic turn on some tunes and hit the gas type of drive.
I’ll find out what the next one may be some time next week, but it looks like about 25-30 min., maybe 15 miles, moderate traffic.
I don’t usually mind that range of drive time, but it can get frustrating if there is an accident or anything that interrupts my timeline.
30 miles.
So 1-1.5 hours every morning but friday, which is about 45 mins if I leave to be at work for 8-830. I go in late to beat traffic, so I average 45-hour in the morning.
an hour to get home, expect friday with is an hour and a half to two every week. I work late to miss all of this except friday.
I don’t mind at all. Gives me time to think.
In December my commute was 30 miles each way so about an hour to an hour and half depending on traffic. Sometimes 2 hours each way.
Now my commute is about 10 minutes total…I’d take a 30% pay cut to keep the 7 minute commute, no joke. It’s unbelievable how much better I feel on a day to day basis just from this one change.
7 minutes. I expect to be working at the same place until I retire, so it makes sense for me to live as close to work as reasonably possible. I live in the city of Dallas. If I lived in the 'burbs, I could have a house double the size (or more), but the convenience of my location is well worth it.
In my early twenties I lived on Long Island (East Meadow) commueted to the Flushing area of Brooklyn. I promised myself when that was over I would live as close to work as possible.
Since then I’ve never had more than a thirty minute drive each way. The 93 Ford I bought new and have driven to work just about eveyday since has 191,236 on it. My 2004 Grand Prix has 84,545.
About 10 minutes to work. I don’t understand how people commute an hour each way, daily…
15-20 mins each way. 25-30 if super bad traffic or accident.
Was two minutes if I made all the green lights. Now 10 to 14 minutes. It’s a tough life, but I try and make the best of it. <(^,^)>
Mine is anywhere between 40-60min and it’s approx 33km each way. I have however pulled off the same drive at 3am in only 20min, traffic is a bitch.

I seriously understand that.
To those who do happen to be stuck with 20 to 30 minute commutes, though, I HIGHLY recommend taking that time and using it to further your education. Listen to self-improvement or educational audio on your way to and from work, every day, every time you go to work. Think about it: 20 minutes, twice a day, adds up to 160 extra hours of education a year! That’s really insane if you think about it. You take the time that most people just waste listening to music or talk radio, and you learn a new language, advance your knowledge in your field, learn how to sell, market or promote your service, product, or self, or just get smarter.
I started doing this years ago and I cannot, I REALLY cannot recommend this highly enough. Anyone who is not doing this is making an egregious misappropriation of the precious little time we have on this earth to improve his life. Plus, once you get started it’s really fun.

It’s really not. See my post above.

I grew up in East Meadow. Did not know you lived there.

That’s a really good point.
Sometimes I wish I could commute via train or bus so I could get some reading done.
I imagine there’s probably some pretty good educational podcasts and things out there as well as books on tape.
I drive a lot. Max behind the wheel time is 10 hours minimum is 2. Thankfully, I only do this 3-4x a week.
I don’t mind. I like driving. The thing that kills me is the fatigue from being behind the wheel so much.
Takes me 30 seconds tops. I work from home and telecommute 60% of the time.
But this weekend my commute will be to DC, and then the last full week of April, I will be in SF. So it can vary.

x2
I’ve actually turned down jobs due to the distance of the commute. It’s horrible, ive done it before, and it’s just not worth it.
