How Long After Eating to Train?

How long should you wait after eating a meal before having your preworkout meal? Im guessing it depends for everyone I usually wait about an hour but I was wondering if there is an optimal wait time for better gains…

I don’t think there is an “optimal” time to wait after eating to train. There are a lot of factors to consider here, including how big the meal was and what kind of workout you are doing, but I think it depends on the individual.

I personally don;t have any problems eating soon before lifting. Yet I know some people who get sick if they eat before hitting the gym.

Experiment and see what works best for you. Remember that ultimately you want optimal performance in the gym.

The question was more between the time of your meal to your preworkout meal which of course is followed by the immediate heading to the gym (for me). But thanks, i guess it’s not that serious.

If I eat real food before lifting, I throw up.

So, I stick to protein shakes before lifting. Works pretty well.

the more fat you eat in the meal before your workout, the longer you should wait. It’s always best go low-fat before a workout (whether you go low-carb or not), as it not only helps you save energy but doesn’t decrease GH output after the workout.
