How ever I do find it hilarious that I am a piss poor deadlifter and by your standards I have pulled Elite numbers in 198,220, and 242 weight class

Dude if I could give a award for the dumbest fucking post I have ever seen I would give it to you. My wife weighed in at 125 and pulled 185 her first ever heavy deadlift session with said shitty form. less than 12 weeks later at 130 she pulled 270 and squat 255 with wraps. He is not strong or even stronger than average. Maybe stronger than you but that’s where the impressiveness ends.
I don’t give a flat fuck about your stupid ass fucking chart. I saw it and its documented here on this site with video. A 300 pound man can’t deadlift 170 are fucking kidding me your god damn pathetic.
Who’s that?
I looked through this guy’s post history. I… I don’t know what to believe.
Let’s all share our first deadlift stories though. I lost my deadlift virginity relatively late in life I think. I was already 17 years old, a senior in high school, before I set foot in a gym. I was around 160lbs at the time and I pulled 315 as my first max. My first bench max was 170 and my first squat max was nothing for another 5 years which is about when I figured out what depth actually was.
Well, early twenties I had two training partners and we all could pull 200 kg deadlifts for a few reps.
Granted, we used shitty form, granted our youth protected us from our stupidity, but “advanced”, we were not.
We were, just like, lifting stuff.
Of course, we would egg each other on, because if one of us could do one thing, we all had to do it.
Dude, that was 440 lbs!!! We were elite!!!
Except that we really were not.

Assume you did sports before?

How on earth is he able to Deadlift 280lb for 1 rep, 250lb for 3 or 200lb for 5???

How did Wilt Chamberlain score 100 points in a single game?
How did Usain Bolt shatter the 100m record?
How did Al Bundy throw 4 touchdown passes in a single game?
Sometimes all you can do is sit back and admire the spirit of a true champion.
Oh man this post had me loling pretty good
DL 250x3, a true champion!
When I was 19yrs old, 160lbs (5’7") I was DLing 205…but I was also overly concerned about hurting my back and only DLd in the power rack (yea off the floor in the power rack…wtf?)

Is that you there in your avatar…
…On the right?
I can’t confirm if this guy is a mechanic or not but he’s into modding cars. And he is into cycling/BMX. So strong legs from latter and good grip from former???
Anyway, what do I do if I can’t get stronger? I changed my workout as low reps weren’t working anymore and after 7 months I still seem weak if this guy deadlifts more than me and I can’t bench/dip/chin.
You say my diet is crap but was told not to worry about physique until strength is up. Hence I eat everything (had a crappy few months where protein intake was done without shakes).
So what do I do???

Those numbers just aren’t that strong.

I’m a pussy chart. A untrained man who is 300 pounds would barely be able to pull 175lbs that’s bullshit. One of my best friends at 14 years old 6" 330 pounds never played a sport in his life walked into the gym and pulled over 405. Hell at 300 lbs as long as he can get to a bar all he has to do is pretty much sit on his heels and fall backwards and the sheer weight of him will pull 225 off the floor no problem.
Bottom line your looking for excuses to why you suck and have not made any progress. Frankly put its because of you believing bull shit like this.

With someone who’s 300 pounds with zero weight room experience, they are either
- a massive bag of lard
- someone who does sports or physical labour and is strong
- a combination of the two.
If he is the former (which is likely nowadays), missing a 180 pull on his first day at the gym is likely. Pathetic, yes, but likely. That being said, ‘novice’ pretty much defines your abilities after a few weeks of learning proper technique and how to use your muscles (something most sedentary people can’t). I agree that if you can’t deadlift your bodyweight, it pretty much means you can’t use your body properly.
Ronki: I want you to do this.
- get on a healthy diet. Enough protein, enough fats, enough carbohydrates. No bulking, no cutting. Just eat in a reasonable manner.
- get on starting strength or stronglifts 5x5. ZERO modifications, they won’t make the routine better.
- get 7-9 hours of sleep every fucking night. Go to bed at the same time every day and turn of the TV and computer two hours beforehand.
- work your ass off and try to finish the set at all costs. learn how to safely fail. That being said, once you fail a weight three times, reset by 10%.
- do all of this for six months, no excuses. If you do, you will be better. If you don’t, no one can help you.
Wanna know why your friend is stronger than you? Because he works a physical job and NEEDS to apply his body. No ‘Oh, I can’t tighten that screw, maybe I should do more wrist rotations’. You, on the other hand, keep changing things looking for the magic pill. I know people who couldn’t do a single pull up - guess what, they did a few negatives each day and boom, they got it within a month. What you need is more common sense, more grit, less doubt and less internet reading.
Misleading title…should have been “How the hell is he not as weak as me?”
I dont remember a time when i couldnt deadlift 225 for at least a few reps, even when i first started lifting. And i was not a naturally strong guy before i got into bodybuilding
Hilarious thread…
Ok, let’s see now:
-
Maybe he lied about it being the first time he’s ever dl’d.
-
If he works as a mechanic he possibly has at least a bit of experience in lifting some heavyish stuff which we may be a factor.
-
A 280LB dl even if the above conjecture is totally off isn’t really that much…I mean an untrained guy BENCHING 280 or even maybe squatting 280…sure, that’s a different ball game, suck his cock for sustenance/inspiration!!
-
The shittier a newbies form on deadlifts, the bigger the weights they tend to put up (same deal with bicep, swing curls!).
You’re probably not squeezing your glutes enough.
If you’re not sure how hard to squeeze your glutes then the next time you see this other guy train go over ands squeeze his glutes to get a feel for it.
FFS if i had a buddy whom i perceived to have potential despite being a complete noob i would be eagerly steering him in the right direction with whatever resources and knowledge i have. I wouldn’t get jealous instead and start whining about it on a fucking forum.

Did no one else see this part of the OP’s second post?
Seems like the OP says his balding arch nemesis hits 250KG for 2. Makes a lot more sense if that’s the case.
OP is either trolling or, sadly, extremely ill-informed with a lack of weightlifting experience and knowledge.
